He had four sons: Thomas (b. ca. 1684); Charles; James (b. ca. 1692-bef. 1752); and John. Samuel Preston Christian (b. ca. 1844), son of Abner Early Christian and his wife and cousin, Martha Early Preston, was born in Wilson Co., Tennessee. He married 1865 Mary E. Estes, daughter of Mathew Estes and Fanny Lasater. He inherited the Preston estate from his mother and managed it until his death in 1918. He had six children born in Wilson Co., Tenn.
