The book traces the progenitors of the Harlan County, Kentucky, Cobb, Pope, and Ball families from their known North American origins in colonial Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina to their eventual settlement in eastern Tennessee, western Virginia, and southeastern Kentucky.
