Thermoelastic Effects on Hypersonic Stability and Control
Author: Richard H. Gallagher
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Aerodynamics, Hypersonic
Languages : en
Pages : 160
Book Description
Methods for predicting the elastic characteristics of severely heated lifing surfaces are described. These methods, applicable to a wide variety of configurations and support conditions, account for nonlinear temperature distributions in all directions and the effects of finite deflections. Specific distributions in all formulations are given for the case where the surface can be represented as a thin plate and for the flexural element-torsion box representation. Both approaches are applied to the prediction of test data, and their accuracy is assessed. The extension of other low aspect ratio wing analysis techniques to include elevated temperature effects is also described.

Nonlinear Thermoelastic Effects on Hypersonic Stability and Control. Part Ii. Analytical and Experimental Static Aerothermoelasticity
Author: James R. Batt

Pages : 90
Book Description
An analytical method was developed for the analysis of static aerothermoelastic behavior in the presence of nonlinear aerodynamic loads and geometrically nonlinear structural behavior. The method was programmed for the IBM 7090 digital computer using FORTRAN coding techniques. A system for the experimental determination of static aerothermoelastic response of nonuniformly heated structures to loadings which are a nonlinear function of wing surface slopes was developed. Results of this experimental program are presented and compared with theoretical predictions. (Author).
