Structural Equation Modeling with EQS and EQS/WINDOWS

Structural Equation Modeling with EQS and EQS/WINDOWS PDF Author: Barbara M. Byrne
Publisher: SAGE
ISBN: 9780803950924
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 308

Book Description
Designed to help beginners estimate and test structural equation modeling (SEM) using the EQS approach, this book demonstrates a variety of SEM//EQS applications that include both partial factor analytic and full latent variable models. Beginning with an overview of the basic concepts of SEM and the EQS program, the author works through applications starting with a single sample approach to more advanced applications, such as a multi-sample approach. The book concludes with a section on using EQS for modeling with Windows.

Theory and Application of Quantum-Based Interatomic Potentials in Metals and Alloys

Theory and Application of Quantum-Based Interatomic Potentials in Metals and Alloys PDF Author: John A. Moriarty
Publisher: Oxford University Press
ISBN: 0192555359
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 593

Book Description
Atomistic computer simulations are often at the heart of modern attempts to predict and understand the physical properties of real materials, including the vast domain of metals and alloys. Historically, highly simplified empirical potentials have been used to provide the interatomic forces needed to perform such simulations, but true predictive power in these materials emanates from fundamental quantum mechanics. In metals and alloys especially, a viable path forward to the vastly larger length and time scales offered by empirical potentials, while retaining the predictive power of quantum mechanics, is to course-grain the underlying electronic structure of the material and systematically derive quantum-based interatomic potentials from first-principles. This book spans the entire process from foundation in fundamental theory, to the development of accurate quantum-based potentials for real materials, to the wide-spread application of the potentials to the atomistic simulation of structural, thermodynamic, defect and mechanical properties of metals and alloys.

Basic Principles of Structural Equation Modeling

Basic Principles of Structural Equation Modeling PDF Author: Ralph O. Mueller
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1461239745
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 252

Book Description
During the last two decades, structural equation modeling (SEM) has emerged as a powerful multivariate data analysis tool in social science research settings, especially in the fields of sociology, psychology, and education. Although its roots can be traced back to the first half of this century, when Spearman (1904) developed factor analysis and Wright (1934) introduced path analysis, it was not until the 1970s that the works by Karl Joreskog and his associates (e. g. , Joreskog, 1977; Joreskog and Van Thillo, 1973) began to make general SEM techniques accessible to the social and behavioral science research communities. Today, with the development and increasing avail ability of SEM computer programs, SEM has become a well-established and respected data analysis method, incorporating many of the traditional analysis techniques as special cases. State-of-the-art SEM software packages such as LISREL (Joreskog and Sorbom, 1993a,b) and EQS (Bentler, 1993; Bentler and Wu, 1993) handle a variety of ordinary least squares regression designs as well as complex structural equation models involving variables with arbitrary distributions. Unfortunately, many students and researchers hesitate to use SEM methods, perhaps due to the somewhat complex underlying statistical repre sentation and theory. In my opinion, social science students and researchers can benefit greatly from acquiring knowledge and skills in SEM since the methods-applied appropriately-can provide a bridge between the theo retical and empirical aspects of behavioral research.

ICIPEG 2016 PDF Author: Mariyamni Awang
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 9811036500
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 793

Book Description
This book presents the proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Integrated Petroleum Engineering and Geosciences 2016 (ICIPEG 2016), held under the banner of World Engineering, Science & Technology Congress (ESTCON 2016) at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from August 15 to 17, 2016. It presents peer-reviewed research articles on exploration, while also exploring a new area: shale research. In this time of low oil prices, it highlights findings to maintain the exchange of knowledge between researchers, serving as a vital bridge-builder between engineers, geoscientists, academics, and industry.

Applications of Lie's Theory of Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations

Applications of Lie's Theory of Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations PDF Author: L Dresner
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 9781420050783
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 242

Book Description
Lie's group theory of differential equations unifies the many ad hoc methods known for solving differential equations and provides powerful new ways to find solutions. The theory has applications to both ordinary and partial differential equations and is not restricted to linear equations. Applications of Lie's Theory of Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations provides a concise, simple introduction to the application of Lie's theory to the solution of differential equations. The author emphasizes clarity and immediacy of understanding rather than encyclopedic completeness, rigor, and generality. This enables readers to quickly grasp the essentials and start applying the methods to find solutions. The book includes worked examples and problems from a wide range of scientific and engineering fields.
