Book Description
Global investing isn't new. In fact, investors have been looking to overseas markets for hundreds of years, and with good reason. A global portfolio can bestow innumerable rewards on the savvy investor, yet many US investors remain woefully under-exposed to foreign equities. Despite the fact that US equity markets make up less than half of world markets, only a small portion of our investment dollars are allocated overseas. Even the most sophisticated investors have been deterred by misconceptions about the risks associated with owning foreign stocks or a lack of information about foreign markets. But the notion investment options are limited by borders is antiquated and downright detrimental to successful investing. Once considered the playground of only the ultra-rich or institutional investors, global investing is fast becoming not only possible, but a necessity, for every investor. As part of Fisher Investments Press, Own the World introduces readers to the vast advantages of seeking investment opportunities all over the planet. Own the World provides investors with tools to build a global portfolio and points out potential hurdles to avoid. It also educates readers on the nuts and bolts of foreign markets, how to easily understand them, and vehicles for investing there. By detailing the vast and currently underappreciated benefits of global investing and the distinct advantages of a global approach, as well as common pitfalls to avoid, Own the World can help readers to tread more confidently into global markets as they look to optimize their investment results.

A World of Its Own

A World of Its Own PDF Author: Matt Garcia
Publisher: UNC Press Books
ISBN: 0807898937
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 353

Book Description
Tracing the history of intercultural struggle and cooperation in the citrus belt of Greater Los Angeles, Matt Garcia explores the social and cultural forces that helped make the city the expansive and diverse metropolis that it is today. As the citrus-growing regions of the San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys in eastern Los Angeles County expanded during the early twentieth century, the agricultural industry there developed along segregated lines, primarily between white landowners and Mexican and Asian laborers. Initially, these communities were sharply divided. But Los Angeles, unlike other agricultural regions, saw important opportunities for intercultural exchange develop around the arts and within multiethnic community groups. Whether fostered in such informal settings as dance halls and theaters or in such formal organizations as the Intercultural Council of Claremont or the Southern California Unity Leagues, these interethnic encounters formed the basis for political cooperation to address labor discrimination and solve problems of residential and educational segregation. Though intercultural collaborations were not always successful, Garcia argues that they constitute an important chapter not only in Southern California's social and cultural development but also in the larger history of American race relations.

Book Description
Dealing with the everyday difficulty of living in a post war world is easier since the Event seven years ago when Terra and an army of friends and warriors traveled across the war-torn ruins of Earth where she stormed the gates of heaven to dethrone the imposter and recover the child. The thankful deity closed the portals used by the aliens and destroyed the giant ships responsible for releasing a plague of genetically altered dinosaurs to replace humans. She is deeply in love with Wolf, who rode at her side. Together they have helped build Phoenix, a compound offering security to her extended family and any seeking shelter. The removal of genetic barriers between humans, ‘saurians and angel has produced a race bearing both telekinetic and other talents. Since the Event the attacks by the ‘saurs and alien Hunter ships are few but a resurgence of genetically mutated saurians has everyone on guard. The evidence leads them to one of the giant mother ships and the emergence of one of mankind’s ancient godheads and a self-proclaimed priest and sorcerer that is causing widespread panic. Terra’s mission is to stop this sorcerer but this is a difficult time for her. Unable to conceive a child by Wolf, the only man she has ever loved, she is left behind in the compound when he storms off after a big fight. Feeling alone and desperate, she becomes prey to the stranger that has arrived in Wolf’s absence. Heartbroken, she fears that her and Wolf’s high percentage of Angel blood is the source of their discord. Her despondent mood has drawn this stranger’s attention.

To Make Their Own Way in the World

To Make Their Own Way in the World PDF Author: Ilisa Barbash
Publisher: Aperture
ISBN: 9781597114783
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 0

Book Description
To Make Their Own Way in the World is a profound consideration of some of the most challenging images in the early history of photography. The fifteen daguerreotypes--made in 1850 by photographer Joseph T. Zealy--portray Alfred, Delia, Drana, Fassena, Jack, Jem, and Renty, men and women of African descent who were enslaved in South Carolina. Since 1976, when the daguerreotypes were rediscovered at Harvard University's Peabody Museum, the photographs have been the subject of intense and widespread study. To Make Their Own Way in the World features essays by prominent scholars who explore everything from the photographs' historical context and the "science" of race to the ways in which photography created a visual narrative of slavery and its effects. Multidisciplinary, deeply collaborative, and with more than two hundred illustrations, including new photography by contemporary artist Carrie Mae Weems, this book frames the Zealy daguerreotypes as works of urgent contemporary inquiry. Worlds Before Our Own

Worlds Before Our Own PDF Author: Brad Steiger
Publisher: Anomalist Books
ISBN: 9781938398490
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 234

Book Description
Twenty-two years beforeTechnology of the Gods... Seventeen years beforeFingerprints of the Gods... Fifteen years beforeForbidden Archaeology... There was...Worlds Before Our Own, Brad Steiger's groundbreaking argument for the existence of a global prehistoric civilization. The evidence Steiger had amassed for such a claim was based primarily upon finds of "erratics" mysterious "man-made" artifacts found in the deepest, most primordial geological strata. When Worlds Before Our Own was first published, it was met with scathing reviews--even demands that the book be taken from the shelves and burned. Steiger's desire to determine humankind's true origins has always been one of his greatest areas of interest, and he was shocked that both the scientific and religious establishments had reacted so negatively to the theories put forward in the book. Hostile reviewers fumed that Steiger had no right to reveal archaeological discoveries that could threaten the traditional timetables of human evolution. Eventually critics began to hail the book as "mostly brilliant" and "daring," and in the past couple of decades the concepts first presented in Worlds Before Our Own have garnered tremendous critical and popular support. This is the book that started it all. Brad Steiger's first explorations of the strange and unexplained appeared in 1956. He is the author/coauthor of 164 books in the paranormal, UFO, and prehistoric mystery fields, including such titles as Mysteries of Time and Space, Project Blue Book, Revelation: The Divine Fire, Conspiracies and Secret Societies, Strange Guests, and Shadow World."
