The Not BAD Animals

The Not BAD Animals PDF Author: Sophie Corrigan
Publisher: Frances Lincoln Children's Books
ISBN: 0711247471
Category : Juvenile Nonfiction
Languages : en
Pages : 163

Book Description
We all have a certain creature that makes our skin scrawl and give us the 'heebie jeebies'. Spiders that make us scream, mice that make us jump on top of furniture until the coast is clear, or bats that make us shudder at the thought of them flapping around our hair. There are creatures big and small all over the world that make us squirm and wriggle in our seats just at the mere thought of them. But what did these animals ever do to deserve such a bad reputation? Most of the time it's humans that have labelled them ugly, dangerous and downright gross. But it's one false acquisition too many for these little guys. They've had enough of being called scary, slimy, nasty and ewwy. They're here to dispel these false acquisitions and set the record straight once and for all! "You humans have given us a BAD rep! You've been spreading rumours about us - you think we're scary and spooky and dangerous and icky. Well we're here to set the record straight because we're fed up with the lies you've been spreading. We're not bad animals at all -we're just misunderstood!" With laugh-out-loud illustrations from the immensely talented Sophie Corrigan, uncover the truth behind the animal and learn all about how each creature plays an important role in our world. With bitesize text that will leave you giggling and a fact box about each misrepresented creature, this is the perfect introduction to over 30 critters big and small who really aren't all that bad at all!

Book Description
"You can keep the change"--Sumguyen to cashierSumguyen and Bimisi made the fiscally responsible decision to call in sick for a couple days and take advantage of the coveted free passes to the Las Vegas Adult Expo they were given by a scantily clad marketing rep in an Apache Junction bar the night before. They stopped in Wikiup, AZ for $14 worth of gas and a road soda. Sumguyen watched as a biker chick reached deep into the jar of pickles displayed on the counter. She was in elbow deep and was fishing for the largest of those brined beauties. As she clutched the winning pickle in her teeth she started counting out bills with her still dripping hand. Sumguyen knew those bills would be in his change, he slapped down a twenty and walked out the door. The treasures he might encounter at the Adult Expo and that monster Gherkin in a biker chick's mouth made for a strange and conflicting combination of thoughts...the fourth book of Season Two was conceived over the next 28 miles.

The Ik language

The Ik language PDF Author: Terrill B. Schrock
Publisher: Language Science Press
ISBN: 3944675959
Category : Electronic book
Languages : en
Pages : 617

Book Description
This book is a dictionary and grammar sketch of Ik, one of the three Kuliak (Rub) languages spoken in the beautiful Karamoja region of northeastern Uganda. It is the lexicographic sequel to \textit{A grammar of Ik (Icé-tód): Northeast Uganda’s last thriving Kuliak language} (Schrock 2014). The present volume includes an Ik-English dictionary with roughly 8,700 entries, followed by a reversed English-Ik index. These two main sections are then supplemented with an outline of Ik grammar that is comprehensive in its coverage of topics and written in a simple style, using standard linguistic terminology in a way that is accessible to interested non-linguists as well. This book may prove useful for language preservation and development among the Ik people, as a reference tool for non-Ik learners of the language, and as a source of data, not only for the comparative study of Kuliak but also the wider Afroasiatic and Nilo-Saharan language families.
