Book Description
Excerpt from The Voluntary System, Can It Supply the Place of the Established Church?: With Recent Facts and Statistics From America In stating the question therefore between the Church. And the Voluntary System as I have stated it, I have not done justice to the cause of the Church. The real question is not whether Voluntaryism could supply the place of the Church, but whe ther it could supply it so much better as to make it worth the while of the English people to make the exchange. While, therefore, it is enough for us to shew that the Establishment is equal to, or not greatly inferior to Voluntaryism, our adver saries are bound to shew that Voluntaryism is very decidedly and greatly superior to our Establishment.
