Book Description
This report evaluates all available vapor-liquid equilibria (VLE) data from low-to-moderate pressures over the normal liquid water temperature range for the highly non-ideal aqueous ammonia solutions spanning nearly a century. The evaluation relies on all complete VLE data comprised of pressure- temperature-liquid and vapor compositions published over the last century to develop a temperature dependent model for the coefficients of the Wilson equation. The computations derived from the temperature dependent model are described by means of the program flowcharts and listings. Graphs of computed minima of the "best" Wilson coefficient pairs illustrate the statistical analysis of the experimental data. Tables of calculated deviations for three sets of Wilson coefficients corresponding to the individual and combined data sets demonstrate the utility of the model equations. Excellent agreement between the experimental and calculated liquid and vapor compositions is found for all but two data sets over the region of rapidly changing vapor composition up to 90 mole % of ammonia. This temperature dependent Wilson model offers a succinct representation of 100 years of what appear to be disparate pressure- temperature-composition VLE data.

Book Description
There are many thermodynamics texts on the market, yet most provide a presentation that is at a level too high for those new to the field. This second edition of Thermodynamics continues to provide an accessible introduction to thermodynamics, which maintains an appropriate rigor to prepare newcomers for subsequent, more advanced topics. Guidelines for Engineering Design for Process Safety

Guidelines for Engineering Design for Process Safety PDF Author: CCPS (Center for Chemical Process Safety)
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 0470938269
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 607

Book Description
Inherently safer plants begin with the initial design. Here is where integrity and reliability can be built in at the lowest cost, and with maximum effectiveness. This book focuses on process safety issues in the design of chemical, petrochemical, and hydrocarbon processing facilities. It discusses how to select designs that can prevent or mitigate the release of flammable or toxic materials, which could lead to a fire, explosion, or environmental damage. All engineers on the design team, the process hazard analysis team, and those who make basic decisions on plant design, will benefit from its comprehensive coverage, its organization, and the extensive references to literature, codes, and standards that accompany each chapter.
