This Is Unimaginable and Unavoidable

This Is Unimaginable and Unavoidable PDF Author: Guy Smith
Publisher: Non-Duality Press
ISBN: 9780954779252
Category : Literary Collections
Languages : en
Pages : 284

Book Description
This is Unimaginable and Unavoidable (subtitle) Irresponsible Writings on Non-Duality By Guy Smith Foreword by Tony Parsons This first book by Guy Smith addresses the appearance of separation from first-hand experience in an original series of prose, verse and 'notices'. Challenging and original, it constitutes a blast of freedom written in the period six months after awakening. Guy Smith is 24 years old and lives in Bristol. "I love this book! It is passionate, uncompromising, irreverent, intimately openhanded and wonderfully without any sense of order or progression. Throughout the whole work there is very little that the cunning guru mind can get hold of and turn into a belief system. There is a powerful invitation within these outpourings which seems to harbour and generate a feeling of the sensuous, the impersonal, the unbounded mystery that lies beyond the words. This is not a book to wade through steadily, but rather a deep pool in which to dip one's foot . . . and maybe fall in. There is a proliferation of so-called Advaita/Non-dual literature available today, and virtually all of it is borne out of a fundamental misconception about the nature of being. However, during the last decade some rare, clear voices have emerged out of the mist, and Guy's work is surely an inspiring and unique confirmation of this wonderful message." From the Foreword by Tony Parsons

Unimaginable Bodies

Unimaginable Bodies PDF Author: Anna Catherine Hickey-Moody
Publisher: BRILL
ISBN: 9087908555
Category : Education
Languages : en
Pages : 119

Book Description
Unimaginable Bodies radically resituates academic discussions of intellectual disability. Through building relationships between philosophy, cultural studies and communities of integrated dance theatre practice, Anna Hickey-Moody argues that dance theatre devised with and performed by young people with and without intellectual disability, can reframe the ways in which bodies with intellectual disability are known. This proposition is considered in terms of classic philosophical ideas of how we think the mind and body, as Hickey-Moody argues that dance theatre performed by young people with and without intellectual disability creates a context in which the intellectually disabled body is understood in terms other than those that pre-suppose a Cartesian mind-body dualism. Taking up the writings of Spinoza and Deleuze and Guattari, Hickey-Moody critiques aspects of medical discourses of intellectual disability, arguing that Cartesian methods for thinking about the body are recreated within these discourses. Further, she shows that Cartesian ways of conceiving corporeality can be traced through select studies of the social construction of intellectual disability. The argument for theorising corporeality and embodied knowledge that Hickey-Moody constructs is a philosophical interpretation of the processes of knowledge production and subjectification that occur in integrated dance theatre. Knowledge produced within integrated dance theatre is translated into thought in order to explore the affective nature of performance texts. This book is essential reading for those interested in theories of embodiment, disability studies and dance. Unimaginable

Unimaginable PDF Author: Brooke Taylor

Book Description
There is no way to begin without telling you the saddest part of the story. It's a love story, and it begins with a positive pregnancy test. But, it doesn't end with a baby."Everything was right on schedule in Brooke Taylor's meticulously planned world. She had checked off every box-the husband, the house, the dogs, the graduate degree, the (modest) savings account-and now, positive pregnancy test in hand, she had checked the most anticipated box of all. As a young couple with every dream seemingly within their grasp, the potential for looming tragedy wasn't even on their radar. The death of a child? That was an unfathomable abstraction, a terrible tragedy that could only happen to someone else. And then, in one fateful moment, the unimaginable became their reality. After 34 weeks of a textbook, uneventful pregnancy while expecting their first daughter, Eliza, in 2010, Brooke and her husband David were shocked when she went into labor weeks before her due date-and then absolutely blindsided when they arrived at the hospital only to be told that their beloved "Baby Duck" no longer had a heartbeat. This is the story of what comes next: of learning to live with a broken heart that keeps on beating, of picking up the pieces amidst the devastation of earth-shattering grief, and of finding a way to love life again-even when nothing goes according to plan. This is the story of surviving the death of a child, navigating the complexities of life after pregnancy loss, and discovering that grief can somehow become a part of our life without overtaking it completely.Unimaginable: Life after baby loss examines what it means to be a parent bereaved through stillbirth, and traces one mother's path back to a hopeful life.
