Compass to Healing: My Journey to Wellness

Compass to Healing: My Journey to Wellness PDF Author: Rebecca A. Houtsma
Publisher: Balboa Press
ISBN: 1982277033
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 229

Book Description
In the spring of 2015, I became very ill. For eighteen months, I could barely get off the couch. I was sick, had no energy, my anxiety went out of control, and I sank into a deep depression. In Compass to Healing: My Journey to Wellness, I share what happened to me when I finally gave up trying to fix, control, and micromanage the universe to protect my family and heal myself. Compass to Healing: My Journey to Wellness tells the story of my surrender to a higher power and the gifts and guidance that came to me in the form of a voice, signs, and messages, many of which I received from family, friends, and strangers, as I began to experiment with connecting, trusting, and communicating with that higher realm of power. In Compass to Healing: My Journey to Wellness, I begin to discover my own inner compass and a way out of fear and anxiety, and, in doing so, regain my health and courage and find myself gifted with miracles, faith, hope, and the great, healing love of family and friends—love that was there all along, and love that carried me through. I interpret my healing journey using the spiritual lens of the traditional, indigenous, Andean Medicine Wheel and its four cardinal directions. In Compass to Healing: My Journey to Wellness, my healing journey takes me south and west and brings me into contact with beautiful events, places, and people—each with something important to teach me.

Autonomic Communication

Autonomic Communication PDF Author: Athanasios V. Vasilakos
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 0387097538
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 381

Book Description
New paradigms for communication/networking systems are needed in order to tackle the emerging issues such as heterogeneity, complexity and management of evolvable infrastructures. In order to realize such advanced systems, approaches should become task- and knowledge-driven, enabling a service-oriented, requirement, and trust-driven development of communication networks. The networking and seamless integration of concepts, technologies and devices in a dynamically changing environment poses many challenges to the research community, including interoperability, programmability, management, openness, reliability, performance, context awareness, intelligence, autonomy, security, privacy, safety, and semantics. This edited volume explores the challenges of technologies to realize the vision where devices and applications seamlessly interconnect, intelligently cooperate, and autonomously manage themselves, and as a result, the borders of virtual and real world vanish or become significantly blurred.

Convergence Healing

Convergence Healing PDF Author: Peter Bedard
Publisher: Simon and Schuster
ISBN: 1501119524
Category : Health & Fitness
Languages : en
Pages : 224

Book Description
An amazing, proven, 10-point plan that explains noninvasive, life-altering practices to help you permanently heal your mind, body, and spirit. Millions of people suffer from some form of chronic pain (whether it be physical, emotional, or existential), and this discomfort silently drains too many of us of our highest potential and our power. Living in a state of unending pain pushes people to the margins of their own lives and robs them of direct access to their most authentic, essential, worthy selves. Pain, ironically, renders too many beautiful voices mute; it cripples the body, leaving too many dancing souls lost. And nobody knows this better than Peter Bedard. One night, seventeen-year-old dancer, Peter Bedard, died in a traffic accident. The white-bearded messenger waiting at the gate of heaven sent him back to Earth with a task to help others heal. After a decade of debilitating physical and emotional suffering, Peter uncovered an empowered, new way of healing chronic pain without medicine—convergence healing. In his groundbreaking approach, Bedard invites us to look at our pain as the greatest source of wisdom we will ever have. Instead of medicating it, trying to break with it, or somehow outwit it, he invites us to surrender to our pain so that we may finally integrate our losses, our transitions, our heartaches, and our mortality and make peace with the everlasting truth of who, uniquely, we truly are. Through the author’s own near-death experience and other compelling stories and case studies, Convergence Healing offers a whole new body-mind paradigm for those interested in living a balanced, well-integrated life.

Healing Souls

Healing Souls PDF Author: Eric G. Swedin
Publisher: University of Illinois Press
ISBN: 0252054245
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 266

Book Description
In this first history of psychotherapy among the Latter-day Saints, Eric G. Swedin describes how modern psychology has affected the "healing of souls” in the LDS community. But he also shows how this community melded its theological doctrines with mainstream psychiatry when secular concepts clashed with fundamental tenets of Mormonism. The psychological professions pervasive in twentieth-century American society were viewed as dangerous by some religious communities. Healing Souls describes the LDS community's mixed feelings about science and modernity: while valuing knowledge, Mormons feared a challenge to faith. Nonetheless, psychology courses were introduced at Brigham Young University, and LDS psychotherapists began to introduce new ideas and practices to the community. Swedin portrays the rise of professional organizations such as the Association of Mormon Counselors and Psychotherapists, as well as the importance of Allen E. Bergin, first director of the BYU Institute for Studies in Values and Human Behavior. Bergin and others paved the way for the LDS adoption of professional psychotherapy as an essential element of their "cure of souls." Important chapters take up LDS psychopathology, feminist dissent, LDS philosophies of sexuality, and the LDS rejection of mainstream psychotherapy's selfist psychology on the basis of theological doctrines of family salvation, eternalism, and the natural man. Healing Souls contributes to a more complete historical picture of the mental health professions in North America and a better understanding of how religious traditions and psychology have influenced each other.
