Book Description
The State University System 2025 Strategic Plan strengthens the Board of Governors' commitment to achieving excellence in the tripartite mission of its state universities--teaching, research, and public service--for the benefit of Florida's citizens, their communities, and the state economy. The Strategic Plan is a living document that helps align the State University System's goals with Florida's highest economic, workforce, and research needs. As such, the Strategic Plan frames the university's tripartite mission around three key themes--Excellence, Productivity, and Strategic Priorities for a Knowledge Economy. The State University System of Florida has experienced extraordinary changes and shifts in recent years, as economic challenges in Florida have compelled state universities to implement innovative strategies and efficiencies to respond to both increased enrollment demands and budget constraints. These changes are reflected in the 2014 update of the State University System 2025 Strategic Plan, which was originally approved in November of 2011. Among the most notable changes, the System's 12th university--Florida Polytechnic University--was created to focus on the production of graduates in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The Board's Access and Attainment Commission conducted a supply-demand study of the State's projected occupations and current baccalaureate degree production, and was rewarded with a legislative appropriation to close those gaps in degree production. The Board's list of Programs of Strategic Emphasis was also revised in November 2013 to reflect changes in workforce demands. Two additional Board committees--the Innovation and Online Committee and the Health Initiatives Committee--were created to assist in System strategic planning. The University of Florida and Florida State University were designated as Preeminent Universities and rewarded with additional funding to raise their national rankings. And perhaps most importantly, the Board of Governors worked with the Florida Legislature and the Governor to implement a Performance-Based Funding Model that is a dramatic change to how the System will receive funding. The Performance-Based Funding Model provides incentives to universities to meet the Board's benchmarks--which are largely based on the 2025 goals in this Strategic Plan. The changes to this updated Strategic Plan, which the Board approved in 2014, demonstrates the Board's commitment to the kind of strategic planning that truly helps steer the State University System in the direction of Florida's highest priorities. Every five years, the Board will review the Strategic Plan, assess the State University System's progress on the 28 goals in the Plan, and make adjustments, as necessary. The Board's continued close attention to the accuracy and credibility of its Strategic Plan will focus the State University System to help Florida find solutions to the educational, economic, and societal challenges of the coming decades. 2016 System Summary of University Work Plans. Revised

2016 System Summary of University Work Plans. Revised PDF Author: State University System of Florida. Board of Governors
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 30

Book Description
The State University System of Florida has developed three tools that aid in guiding the System's future: (1) The Board of Governors' 2025 System Strategic Plan is driven by goals and associated metrics that stake out where the System is headed; (2) The Board's Annual Accountability Report provides yearly tracking for how the System is progressing toward its goals; (3) Institutional Work Plans connect the two and create an opportunity for greater dialogue relative to how each institution contributes to the System's overall vision. These three documents assist the Board with strategic planning and with setting short-, mid- and long-term goals. The Board will use these documents to help advocate for all System institutions and foster even greater coordination with the institutions and their Boards of Trustees. Once a Work Plan is approved by each institution's respective Board of Trustees, the Board of Governors will review and consider the plan for potential acceptance. Longer-term components will inform future agendas of the Board's Strategic Planning Committee. The Board's acceptance of a Work Plan does not constitute approval of any particular component, nor does it supersede any necessary approval processes that may be required for each component. The following work plan information is provided in this summary: (1) Performance Based Funding Metrics; (2) Preeminent Research Metrics; (3) System Strategic Plan Key Performance Indicators; (4) Enrollment Planning; (5) Planned Academic Programs; (6) Gift Aid and Net Tuition by Family Income; and (7) Student Debt. [For the 2014-15 Summary, see ED565441].

Higher Education Systems 3.0 PDF Author: Jason E. Lane
Publisher: SUNY Press
ISBN: 1438449771
Category : Education

Pages : 337

Book Description
A comprehensive examination of higher education multi-campus systems and their role in improving state economies and communities. This thought-provoking volume brings together scholars and system leaders to analyze some of the most pressing and complex issues now facing higher education systems and society. Higher Education Systems 3.0 focuses on the remaking of higher education coordination in an era of increased accountability, greater calls for productivity, and intensifying fiscal austerity. System heads have been identifying ways to harness the collective contributions of their various institutions to benefit the students, communities, and other stakeholders that they serve. The contributors explore the recent dynamics of higher education systems, focusing particularly on how systems are now working to improve their effectiveness in educating students and improving our communities, while also identifying new means for operating more efficiently. This enhanced collaboration, or systemness, is the key aspect of version 3.0.
