Book Description
What happens when the future invades the present? Tom was only 13 years old when he vanished without a trace, so it is not surprising that the stranger who shows up 36 years later claiming to be Tom is thought to be an imposter. But what if he is the boy grown to be a young man, returned not from the past but from the future-a future with faster-than-light spacecraft, death-dealing ray guns, humanoid robots, menacing aliens, bug-eyed monsters, heroic spacemen, captivating spacewomen, megalomaniacal madmen, sentient dinosaurs, and bioengineered cats? If Tom is telling the truth, an interstellar conflict whose origin lies centuries in the future has spilled over into the present-and the past, present, and future are entwined in a riddle for which there appears to be no answer. The Solar Patrol is a blend of space opera and hard science fiction set in the past as it never was and the future as it used to be.

Book Description
Astronomy and Astrophysics Abstracts, which has appeared in semi-annual volumes since 1969, is de voted to the recording, summarizing and indexing of astronomical publications throughout the world. It is prepared under the auspices of the International Astronomical Union (according to a resolution adopted at the 14th General Assembly in 1970). Astronomy and Astrophysics Abstracts aims to present a comprehensive documentation of literature in all fields of astronomy and astrophysics. Every effort will be made to ensure that the average time interval between the date of receipt of the original literature and publication of the abstracts will not exceed eight months. This time interval is near to that achieved by monthly abstracting journals, com pared to which our system of accumulating abstracts for about six months offers the advantage of greater convenience for the user. Volume 8 contains literature published in 1972 and received before March 15, 1973; some older liter ature which was received late and which is not recorded in earlier volumes is also included.

Book Description
Throughout the whole period covered by the grant, solar patrol observations were made at the Huancayo Observatory, at 9400 MHz with a radio polari-meter fed by a 3-foot equatorial paraboloidal antenna. These observations were carried out during three 3-hour sunshine intervals: 12-15, 15-18 and 18-21 UT, to detect and analyze outstanding solar occurrences and polarization anomalies and to measure daily flux density and circular polarization levels, respectively.

Book Description
The concept of summerschools and workshops at the Kanzelh· ohe · Solar Observatory, Karn · · ten, Austria, devotedtoup-to-datetopicsinsolarphysics has been proven to be extremely successful, and thus in August/September 2003 the third combined summerschool and workshop was held there. This book contains the proceedings of the Summerschool and Wo- shop "Solar Magnetic Phenomena" held from 25 August to 5 September 2003 at the Solar Observatory Kanzelh· ohe, · which belongs to the Institute for Geophysics, Astrophysics and Meteorology of the University of Graz, Austria. The book contains the contributions from six invited lecturers. They give an overview on the following topics: observations of the pho- sphere and chromosphere, solar?are observations and theory, coronal mass ejections and the relevance of magnetic helicity, high-energy radiation from the Sun, the physics of solar prominences and highlights from the SOHO mission. The lectures contain about 25 to 30 pages each and provide a valuableintroduction to the topics mentioned above. The comprehensive lists ofreferences at theendof each contribution enablethe interested reader to go into more detail. The second part of the book contains contributed papers.
