The reconstruction of such instruments has raised many questions concerning geometrical design, materials used, and processing techniques. There are few primary sources at our disposal that offer information on the manufacturing process of sixteenth-century trombones, thus one is forced to rely on information that can be derived from scientific analysis of surviving instruments.
