Dr. Roceric conducted research between 1975 to 1981. She interviewed more than 240 Americans of Romanian descent in communities including Detroit, Michigan; Cleveland, Ohio; New York, New York; and South St. Paul and St. Paul, Minnesota. Roceric documents her research process, gives examples of responses to questions during her interviews, discusses language use and preservation among different groups of immigrants (1st generation, 2nd, etc.) and concludes that Romanian-Americans maintain their ethnic language for reasons related to pride and identity.
