RAT BRAIN:IN STEREOTAXIC CRDINATS 2EPPR

RAT BRAIN:IN STEREOTAXIC CRDINATS 2EPPR PDF Author: George Paxinos
Publisher: Academic Press
ISBN: 0323137679
Category : Nature
Languages : en
Pages : 265

Book Description
The Rat Brain in Stereotaxic Coordinates, Second Edition is an atlas of the rat brain based on the convenient flat-skull position that is sufficiently comprehensive and stereotaxically accurate for adult rats. The rat brain is analyzed through stereotaxic localization of discrete brain areas and the subdivisions of many areas of rat brain are mapped using plates and diagrams. Photographs of sufficient magnification are included to permit investigators to judge for themselves the veracity of the atlas delineations. This atlas is based on the study of 130 adult male Wistar rats (with a weight range of 270-310 g). It is suitable for brains of 250-350 g male and female rats and represents all areas of the brain and spinal cord. Brain areas are shown in coronal, sagittal, and horizontal planes. The brain sections shown were taken on average at 0.25 mm intervals and were stained with either cresyl violet or for the demonstration of acetylcholinesterase (AChE). The atlas is based on fresh brains frozen in the skull (using deeply anesthetized rats) in order to overcome distortion produced by fixation and to enhance staining contrast. Structures are delineated on the basis of data on cytoarchitecture, chemoarchitecture, and connectivity. The procedures used for surgery, histology, and photography are also explained. This atlas is intended for use by researchers and graduate students in the neuroscience, as well as senior undergraduates interested in brain anatomy and function.

Atlas of Prenatal Rat Brain Development

Atlas of Prenatal Rat Brain Development PDF Author: Joseph Altman
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 9780849389931
Category : Science

Pages : 664

Book Description
The result of 3 decades of original research and instruction by internationally referenced authors, Drs. Joseph Altman and Shirley A. Bayer, the Atlas of Prenatal Rat Brain Development provides a complete, state-of-the-art presentation of the developing prenatal rat brain. With the aid of advanced computer graphics, Altman and Bayer revolutionize the study of the highly vulnerable prenatal brain and bring us closer to understanding the dynamics of its development, its malfunctions, deficits, and abnormalities. Their contributions to the field of brain research, and hence to our knowledge of brain disorders, are unsurpassed. The Atlas contains more than 265 platesÛeach plate accompanied by a computer-aided drawing, a 3-dimensional reconstruction of brain slices never before achieved with such accuracy and clarity, that assists in the visualization of the brain and of the relationships among various brain regions. A new, user-friendly alphanumeric coding system is used, allowing for easy identification of brain regions.

Structure of the Embryonic Rat Brain

Structure of the Embryonic Rat Brain PDF Author: Christopher Janke
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Language Arts & Disciplines
Languages : en
Pages : 108

Book Description
Christopher Janke stops at nothing, not even the end of a line of verse, in the expression of forment. These meditations, set upon the synapses of a rat in embryo under knife, achieve potency through their own expression of nerve. Disjunctive and epistemic, the poems consider consciousness and demonstrate its wide, inchoate eye. By turns ferocious and goofy in the service of their largest aims, these lines describe and evidence the springing of the animal mind into being.
