Book Description
Taking the Mountain of Education is a strategic prayer guide for those who want to change America's educational system for God. Throughout this country's history significant events took place that placed our public school instruction deep into the throws of humanism. While there were many unsound decisions, ten are of particular importance. Until now, those entry points have gone uncontested mainly because they have been unidentified. But today they are revealed so believers can pray and redeem our children's destiny and ultimately our country's future. America's schools need help. Every day the violence runs like a ticker tape on our news outlets of murders of teachers by students, murders of students by students, rape by teachers, violence in the classroom, etc. There seems to be no end and nothing that can be done about the quandary in which we find ourselves. Test scores may edge up a bit but then plummet, especially in low income areas. Do we need more money to provide improved classrooms, higher qualified teachers, well-trained security staff? None of the above will give us the help we need. Neither will new programs that each new administration proposes help our educational woes. Those who pray know that when a person cannot grasp help no matter how many lifelines are thrown to him, the answer is not in another lifeline. The answer lies in identifying the enemy's entry points, strategic prayer at those entry points, and prophetic declarations. The answer comes when the root causes of destruction over that person is identified and confronted. Join those who will pray all over America us as we embark on a prayer adventure to see God's Educational Reformation.

Heinrich Bullinger on Prophecy and the Prophetic Office (1523–1538)

Heinrich Bullinger on Prophecy and the Prophetic Office (1523–1538) PDF Author: Daniël Timmerman
Publisher: Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht
ISBN: 3647550892
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 331

Book Description
It has often been noted that the Protestant Reformation of the early sixteenth century witnessed a revived interest in the scriptural notions of prophets and prophecy. Drawing from both late medieval apocalyptic expectations of the immanent end of the world and from a humanist revival of biblical studies, the prophet appeared to many as a suitable role model for the Protestant preacher. A prominent proponent of this prophetic model was the Swiss theologian and church leader Heinrich Bullinger (1504–1575). This study by Daniël Timmerman presents the first in-depth investigation of Bullinger's concept of prophecy and his understanding of the prophetic office. It also engages with the history of the Zurich institute for the study of the Scriptures, which has become widely known as the »Prophezei«.

The Prophets

The Prophets PDF Author: Abraham Joshua Heschel
Publisher: Hendrickson Publishers
ISBN: 1598561812
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 561

Book Description
Heschel attempts to understand the thoughts, feelings, and impressions of each of the prophets, presenting the reader with a sense of their very being. He effectively achieves a balance between the objective supernatural and the subjective human situation, and presents a discussion of Amos, Hosea, Isaiah, Micah, Jeremiah, and Habakkuk and their particular challenges and journeys. In the second part of the book, Heschel addresses such subjects as pathos, wrath, sympathy, ecstasy, psychosis, and prophetic and poetic inspiration, and in so doing offers a contribution to the philosophy of religion.
