The World's Student Christian Federation PDF Author: John R. Mott
Publisher: Forgotten Books
ISBN: 9780267488483
Category : Reference
Languages : en
Pages : 34

Book Description
Excerpt from The World's Student Christian Federation: Origin, Objects and Significance of the Federation; The Convention at Northfield and Williamstown; Some Achievements of the First Two Years The chief significance Of the Federation is in its unifying power. It is doing much to unify the plans and methods of Christian work among students in different countries. More over, it is uniting in effort and in spirit as never before the students of the world. It is helping to unite the nations by stronger and more enduring bonds than arbitration treaties, because it is fusing together by the omnipotent Spirit of Christ the students who are to be the leaders of the nations. In this time of wars and rumors of wars, this Federation signifies that, so far as the student class is concerned, there is no Britain and no America, no France and no Germany, no China and no Japan, but Christ is all and in all. Furthermore, in these days when so much is being said and written about Christian unity, this Federation, by uniting the students Of some seventy lead ing branches of the all-embracing Church of Christ, is demon strating in the most practical manner that There is one body, and one Spirit, even as also ye were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father Of all, who is over all, and through all, and in all. Book Description
Excerpt from University Federation: Considered in Its Relation to the Educational Interests of the Methodist Church A new Act, passed in 1853, refers to the failure of this object as a reason for the new legislation. The avowed object of this new legis lation was to extend the benefit and increase the influence of Colleges already established in the Province, by connecting them with the Provincial University. But the contemplated affiliation did not take place because, although the Act of 1853 provided for the distribution of all surplus of University income 'for academical education, the surplus n'ever was so applied. The managers of the 'university were quite able to use the whole income, and the outlying Colleges had only the privilege of affiliation, without any support. Book Description
Excerpt from Methodist Fraternity and Federation: Being Several Addresses and Other Papers on This General Subject IT has long been an established belief with me that anybody who ventures to publish a new book should be haled into court and required to show cause. I cannot plead any very good reason for sending forth this little volume. A few intimate friends insisted that I should do it, and I have yielded to their wishes. The fact, moreover, that I have been honored by being made fraternal messenger from my Church to the Methodist Episcopal Church, the Canadian Methodist Church, and the Wesleyan Methodist Church of Great Britain may be some excuse for putting the addresses which I delivered before the representatives of those three bodies into a somewhat permanent form. I shall. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
