Feynman And Computation

Feynman And Computation PDF Author: Anthony Hey
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 0429980086
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 356

Book Description
Computational properties of use to biological organisms or to the construction of computers can emerge as collective properties of systems having a large number of simple equivalent components (or neurons). The physical meaning of content-addressable memory is described by an appropriate phase space flow of the state of a system. A model of such a system is given, based on aspects of neurobiology but readily adapted to integrated circuits. The collective properties of this model produce a content-addressable memory which correctly yields an entire memory from any subpart of sufficient size. The algorithm for the time evolution of the state of the system is based on asynchronous parallel processing. Additional emergent collective properties include some capacity for generalization, familiarity recognition, categorization, error correction, and time sequence retention. The collective properties are only weakly sensitive to details of the modeling or the failure of individual devices.

Altitude Calibration of an F100, S/N P680063, Turbofan Engine

Altitude Calibration of an F100, S/N P680063, Turbofan Engine PDF Author: National Aeronautics and Space Adm Nasa
Publisher: Independently Published
ISBN: 9781720211211
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 26

Book Description
An airflow and thrust calibration of an F100 engine was conducted in coordination with a flight test program to study airframe-propulsion system integration characteristics of turbofan-powered high-performance aircraft. The tests were conducted with and without augmentation for a variety of simulated flight conditions with emphasis on the transonic regime. Test results for all conditions are presented in terms of corrected airflow and corrected gross thrust as functions of corrected fan speed for nonaugmented power and an augmented thrust ratio as a function of fuel-air ratio for augmented power. Comparisons of measured and predicted data are presented along with the results of an uncertainty analysis for both corrected airflow and gross thrust. Biesiadny, T. J. and Lee, D. and Rodriguez, J. Linux in a Nutshell

Linux in a Nutshell PDF Author: Ellen Siever
Publisher: "O'Reilly Media, Inc."
ISBN: 059652949X
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 946

Book Description
Over the last few years, Linux has grown both as an operating system and a tool for personal and business use. Simultaneously becoming more user friendly and more powerful as a back-end system, Linux has achieved new plateaus: the newer filesystems have solidified, new commands and tools have appeared and become standard, and the desktop--including new desktop environments--have proved to be viable, stable, and readily accessible to even those who don't consider themselves computer gurus. Whether you're using Linux for personal software projects, for a small office or home office (often termed the SOHO environment), to provide services to a small group of colleagues, or to administer a site responsible for millions of email and web connections each day, you need quick access to information on a wide range of tools. This book covers all aspects of administering and making effective use of Linux systems. Among its topics are booting, package management, and revision control. But foremost in Linux in a Nutshell are the utilities and commands that make Linux one of the most powerful and flexible systems available. Now in its fifth edition, Linux in a Nutshell brings users up-to-date with the current state of Linux. Considered by many to be the most complete and authoritative command reference for Linux available, the book covers all substantial user, programming, administration, and networking commands for the most common Linux distributions. Comprehensive but concise, the fifth edition has been updated to cover new features of major Linux distributions. Configuration information for the rapidly growing commercial network services and community update services is one of the subjects covered for the first time. But that's just the beginning. The book covers editors, shells, and LILO and GRUB boot options. There's also coverage of Apache, Samba, Postfix, sendmail, CVS, Subversion, Emacs, vi, sed, gawk, and much more. Everything that system administrators, developers, and power users need to know about Linux is referenced here, and they will turn to this book again and again.

Dependable Computing for Critical Applications

Dependable Computing for Critical Applications PDF Author: Algirdas Avizienis
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 9783709191248
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 431

Book Description
The International Working Conference on Dependable Computing for Critical Applications was the first conference organized by IFIP Working Group 10. 4 "Dependable Computing and Fault Tolerance", in cooperation with the Technical Committee on Fault-Tolerant Computing of the IEEE Computer Society, and the Technical Committee 7 on Systems Reliability, Safety and Security of EWlCS. The rationale for the Working Conference is best expressed by the aims of WG 10. 4: " Increasingly, individuals and organizations are developing or procuring sophisticated computing systems on whose services they need to place great reliance. In differing circumstances, the focus will be on differing properties of such services - e. g. continuity, performance, real-time response, ability to avoid catastrophic failures, prevention of deliberate privacy intrusions. The notion of dependability, defined as that property of a computing system which allows reliance to be justifiably placed on the service it delivers, enables these various concerns to be subsumed within a single conceptual framework. Dependability thus includes as special cases such attributes as reliability, availability, safety, security. The Working Group is aimed at identifying and integrating approaches, methods and techniques for specifying, designing, building, assessing, validating, operating and maintaining computer systems which should exhibit some or all of these attributes. " The concept of WG 10. 4 was formulated during the IFIP Working Conference on Reliable Computing and Fault Tolerance on September 27-29, 1979 in London, England, held in conjunction with the Europ-IFIP 79 Conference.
