Pages : 196
Book Description
The stories in this volume are in three sections. "Retirement Stories" are about senior citizens, such as a retiree prompted by a college survey to examine his past ("Mr. Maple's Good Life"), a retiree prompted to think about human connections after a chance meeting with "The Lady from Australia" and a retiree who sees a chance for revenge when the ex-boss who fired him moves next door ("New Neighbors"). "Left-Over Stories" are those I couldn't fit into Volume I. These include a story telling you how to make "Money", worth the price of the book alone, and a trilogy continuing the story of the young man in "Being in Love" with "Getting Married" and "Struggling On" in the early married years. The third section has stories written just for fun, which I hope, will be fun to read. There's a ghost story, a vampire story, a love potion story, a magic ring story and more. In the last story, "Unfinished Business", a writer tries to outwit death.

Creeth's revolutionary discovery of parallels between the two sets of plays and his innovative method of studying these parallels suggest provocative new ways of looking at Shakespeare's tragedies and constitute a major new direction in Shakespearean scholarship.

Animal Models of Human Cognitive Aging
Author: Jennifer L. Bizon
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1597454222
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 215
Book Description
Significant improvements in lifestyle and medical science are leading to an ever increasing elderly population in the United States and other developed nations. The U.S census bureau estimates that the number of people over 65 will nearly double by 2030, and that the elderly will comprise nearly one-fifth of the world’s entire population within the next 20 years. In Animal Models of Human Cognitive Aging, Jennifer Bizon, Alisa Woods, and a panel of international authorities comprehensively discuss the use of animal models as a tool for understanding cognitive changes associated with the aging process. The book provides substantive background on the newest and most widely used animal models in studies of cognition and aging, while detailing the normal and pathological processes of brain aging of humans in relation to those models. Additional chapters comprehensively review frontal cortical deficits and executive function in primates as related to humans, and the use of transgenic modulation in mice to model Alzheimer’s and other age-related diseases. Groundbreaking and authoritative, Animal Models of Human Cognitive Aging provides a valuable resource for Neuroscientists, Gerontological Scientists and all aging medicine researchers, while serving as a primer for understanding current brain aging studies.
