Book Description
Michael Chenault, award-winning investigative journalist with the New York Times, is rousted in the middle of the night by NYPD detectives and accused of the bizarre murder of a complete stranger. After clearing himself, Chenault finds that Martin Koplanski, the retired history professor he'd been accused of murdering, was likely killed for a mysterious Mormon relic long thought to be just a myth. Twenty-four hours later, Chenault receives an email with a photo of the recently murdered wife of Presidential candidate, Brockston Ratchford. She too appears to have been ritually killed in the exact manner as Koplanski, right down to having the same cryptic character scrawled in blood across her forehead. With way more than just a hunch to now go on, Chenault heads out to Salt Lake City, the site of the Ratchford murder investigation, to find out what, if any, connection there is between the murders. With the help of a beautiful young reporter he meets along the way, Chenault comes to learn the dark family secrets of a rising political star, along with the rather strange but true history of the Mormon church. As he pieces the story together of what appears to be an ever-growing conspiracy, Chenault is pursued by The Brothers, two murderous zealots who will stop at nothing to retrieve the Mormon relic Chenault is also trying to find. What Chenault eventually discovers is that what he's uncovered may not only affect the outcome of the next Presidential election, but decide the fate of an entire religion-if he can manage to stay alive. In the tradition of Raymond Khoury, Brad Meltzer, Dan Brown and Steve Berry, The Moroni Deception is a cleverly conceived, twisting tale of political and religious intrigue by a new master of the conspiracy thriller.

Book Description
The Mormon Deception examines the LDS claim to be the only true church of Jesus Christ on the earth. It shows how Mormon teaching on salvation conflicts with biblical teaching. It further documents that Joseph Smith was a false prophet something that Mormonism agrees would undermine the very foundation of Mormonism.

Book Description
Volume five in The Mormon Delusion series investigates the early Mormon 'Lectures of Faith', comparing the doctrines of the time with the teachings of today - which are entirely different. It then analyses each 'Section' of the Doctrine and Covenants while searching for Joseph Smith 'prophecies' which are evaluated in terms of any evidence of fulfilment. It will come as no surprise to learn that none have any prophetic value or merit whatsoever. However, there is plenty of evidence of Smith's fraud scattered throughout the D&C which is analysed at each stage.

Moroni and the Swastika

Moroni and the Swastika PDF Author: David Conley Nelson
Publisher: University of Oklahoma Press
ISBN: 0806149744
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 532

Book Description
While Adolf Hitler’s National Socialist government was persecuting Jews and Jehovah’s Witnesses and driving forty-two small German religious sects underground, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints continued to practice unhindered. How some fourteen thousand Mormons not only survived but thrived in Nazi Germany is a story little known, rarely told, and occasionally rewritten within the confines of the Church’s history—for good reason, as we see in David Conley Nelson’s Moroni and the Swastika. A page-turning historical narrative, this book is the first full account of how Mormons avoided Nazi persecution through skilled collaboration with Hitler’s regime, and then eschewed postwar shame by constructing an alternative history of wartime suffering and resistance. The Twelfth Article of Faith and parts of the 134th Section of the Doctrine and Covenants function as Mormonism’s equivalent of the biblical admonition to “render unto Caesar,” a charge to cooperate with civil government, no matter how onerous doing so may be. Resurrecting this often-violated doctrinal edict, ecclesiastical leaders at the time developed a strategy that protected Mormons within Nazi Germany. Furthermore, as Nelson shows, many Mormon officials strove to fit into the Third Reich by exploiting commonalities with the Nazi state. German Mormons emphasized a mutual interest in genealogy and a passion for sports. They sent husbands into the Wehrmacht and sons into the Hitler Youth, and they prayed for a German victory when the war began. They also purged Jewish references from hymnals, lesson plans, and liturgical practices. One American mission president even wrote an article for the official Nazi Party newspaper, extolling parallels between Utah Mormon and German Nazi society. Nelson documents this collaboration, as well as subsequent efforts to suppress it by fashioning a new collective memory of ordinary German Mormons’ courage and travails during the war. Recovering this inconvenient past, Moroni and the Swastika restores a complex and difficult chapter to the history of Nazi Germany and the Mormon Church in the twentieth century—and offers new insight into the construction of historical truth.

Book Description
In 1994, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland declared: "Not everything in life is so black and white, but the authenticity of the Book of Mormon and its keystone role in our religion seem to be exactly that. Either Joseph Smith was the prophet he said he was, a prophet who, after seeing the Father and the Son, later beheld the angel Moroni, repeatedly heard counsel from Moroni's lips, and eventually received at his hands a set of ancient gold plates that he then translated by the gift and power of God, or else he did not. And if he did not, he would not be entitled to the reputation of New England folk hero or well-meaning young man or writer of remarkable fiction. No, nor would he be entitled to be considered a great teacher, a quintessential American religious leader, or the creator of great devotional literature. If he had lied about the coming forth of the Book of Mormon, he would certainly be none of these... If Joseph Smith did not translate the Book of Mormon as a work of ancient origin, then I would move heaven and earth to meet the "real" nineteenth-century author. Surely there must be someone willing to step forward-if no one else, at least the descendants of the "real" author-claiming credit for such a remarkable document and all that has transpired in its wake. After all, a writer that can move millions can make millions. Shouldn't someone have come forth then or now to cashier the whole phenomenon? " Let me quote a very powerful comment from President Ezra Taft Benson, who said, 'The Book of Mormon is the keystone of [our] testimony. Just as the arch crumbles if the keystone is removed, so does all the Church stand or fall with the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. To hear someone say something so tremendously bold, so overwhelming in its implications, that everything in the Church - everything - rises or falls on the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and, by implication, the Prophet Joseph Smith' s account of how it came forth, is astounding. Either the Book of Mormon is what the Prophet Joseph said it is or this Church and its founder are false, fraudulent, a deception from the first instance onward." "Either Joseph Smith was the prophet he said he was and he is not entitled to be considered a great teacher or a quintessential American prophet or the creator of great wisdom literature. If he lied about the coming forth of the Book of Mormon, he is certainly none of those." I am suggesting that we make exactly that same kind of do-or-die, bold assertion about the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the divine origins of the Book of Mormon. We have to. Reason and rightness require it. Accept Joseph Smith as a prophet and the book as the miraculously revealed and revered word of the Lord or else consign both man and book to Hades for the devastating deception of it all My name is John Rigdon - great nephew of Sidney Rigdon. In this book I explore the real genesis of the Book of Mormon relying on family documents and published affidavits of people who witnessed firsthand the creation of the Book of Mormon - men and women who knew Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon personally over their entire lifetime. For more than 150 years the Mormon Church has endeavored to hide the true origin of the Book of Mormon and gone to great lengths to silence and discredit witnesses and in many cases change original documents, but now that the Internet has made access to those records available to anyone who takes the time to research them, the true history of the fraud of the Book of Mormon and the rise of the LDS cannot be denied by any rational seeker of truth. The time has come to set the record straight, once and for all. My book will show the involvement that my Uncle Sidney had in the whole affair.

Damned Deceptions

Damned Deceptions PDF Author: Dennis Knotts
Publisher: Strategic Book Publishing & Rights Agency
ISBN: 1948858444
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 394

Book Description
Jesus gave His believers a very clear warning: “Take heed and let no man deceive you.” The problem with deception is that those who are deceived do not know that they are deceived. Deception is the tool of Satan to try and lead people away from the salvation that God has promised through His Word, the Bible. This manuscript explores the history, doctrines, and teachings of two major cults, analyzing them to see if they comply with the promises God makes in His Word, or are they deceptions designed to lead people astray and into outer darkness. Damned Deceptions also follows the logic of the teachings of these cults to see what they are actually claiming and offering their followers. Do people truly realize what they are saying when they teach their doctrines? These are beliefs that you cannot get wrong, because if you have been deceived and are wrong, God’s Word tells us that you will be damned. If what you believe about God, the Bible, and Jesus is wrong, wouldn’t you like to know the truth? This book offers just that: the truth based upon what God says in His Word. This book looks at the Bible as a legally binding contract between God and man. It reviews and analyzes the teachings of Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Latter-day Saints in light of contract law, to see if their teachings and doctrine would hold up in a court of law, or are they nothing more than deceptions that will lead believers to be lost for eternity.
