O., Barry; was born in Lancaster county, Pa., in 1811; son of Samuel and Hannah Frazer, natives of Pennsylvania, who moved to Ohio, where he died. The subject of this sketch was married in 1837 to Miss Eliza Nichols, daughter of John and Mary (Rethnal) Nichols, natives of New Jersey and Maryland, respectively, who settled in Adams county, 111., where he died. Mr. F. settled in this tp. in 1846. The following year he moved to Adams county and lived 0 or 7 years, when lie returned and settled on his present estate of 160 acres, valued at $50 per acre. To them have been born 10 children, 8 of whom are living: Samuel D., Joshua N., Jacob C, Mary J., James F., Sarah A., Lucy E. and Eliza B.; the deceased are George L. and John T. His son James is a member of the Ancient Order of the United Workmen; Joshua is a member of the Masonic order, and Samuel of the I. O. 0. F.; Jacob C. is also a Mason, and Sarah A. is a member of the Eastern Star. Mr. F. has always been a Democrat, but has espoused the Greenback cause. The family are among the most respected and enterprising farmers of Barry tp. Alonzo Gard, farmer, sec. 31; P. O., Kinderhook; was born in Washington county, O.. in 1S22, and is a son of Mischel and Clarissa (Baker) Gard!! who settled in. this tp. in 1826. In 1829 he moved his family here, where he lived until his death, Jan. 5,1871, at the age of 77 years. She died April 10, 1863. He entered the land of his son's estate, consisting of 88 acres, now valued at $50 per acre. He was Justice of the Peace and among the earliest settlers. The subject of this sketch was married in 1850 to Miss Mary J....
