Book Description
Excerpt from The Law Usages and Customs: A Treatise Wherein Is More Particularly Pointed Out When and to What Extent Usages and Customs May Be Set Up as a Defence, and How, as a Matter of Evidence, Their Existence Will Control, Vary, or Explain Writings and Agreements Mr. Browne's work is the product of an able English lawyer, and it exhibits upon every page a thorough knowledge of the principles of the law pertaining to this important topic. My great object throughout the work has been to secure a statement of the entire law with precision and simplicity. The attempt to perform this task has forced upon me the careful examination and patient study of many hundreds of volumes and I have endeavored to give the gist of every.
