The Last Trumpet

The Last Trumpet PDF Author: James Arthur Brownlow
Publisher: Pendragon Press
ISBN: 9780945193814
Category : Juvenile Nonfiction
Languages : en
Pages : 310

Book Description
The nineteenth-century English slide trumpet was the last trumpet with the traditional sound of the old classic trumpet. The instrument was essentially a natural trumpet to which had been added a movable slide with a return mechanism. It was England's standard orchestral trumpet, despite the dominance of natural and, ultimately, valved instruments elsewhere, and it remained in use by leading English players until the last years of the century. The slide trumpet's dominating role in nineteenth-century English orchestral playing has been well documented, but until now, the use of the instrument in solo and ensemble music has been given only superficial consideration. Art Brownlow's study is a new and thorough assessment of the slide trumpet. It is the first comprehensive examination of the orchestral, ensemble and solo literature written for this instrument. Other topics include the precursors of the nineteenth-century instrument, its initial development and subsequent modifications, its technique, and the slide trumpet's slow decline. Appendices include checklists of English trumpeters and slide trumpetmakers.

Many have become complacent and consumed by day-to-day activities! This is the plan of the enemy to keep us distracted and overwhelmed with personal interests to divert us from the truth! It is my personal objective to sound a trumpet of warning to reach as many as possible to effectively pause and consider an alternative from the way the world keeps them lost and blind! My overall purpose is to lead those who thirst to a well of living water! I pray that many will be captivated by words of this book as a way of hearing from God! Thank you, God, for this opportunity!

Scratch Music Projects

Scratch Music Projects PDF Author: Andrew R. Brown
Publisher: Oxford University Press
ISBN: 0199309302
Category : Music
Languages : en
Pages : 217

Book Description
In this practical, project-based book, music students, educators, and coders receive the necessary tools to engage with real-world experiences in computation and creativity using the programming language Scratch. Designed to teach students the fundamental concepts of computational thinking through interactive music, sound, and media, projects vary in complexity and encourage readers to make music through playing and creating music. This book introduces readers to concepts in computational thinking and coding alongside parallel concepts in music, creative sound, and interaction. The book begins with a gentle introduction to the Scratch 3.0 programming environment through hands-on projects using a computer keyboard and mouse to make music and control sounds, creating original sounds, and performing them as an instrument. The next chapters introduce programming musical sequences, melodies, and structures, and assembling them into a virtual band that can be performed live or automated through algorithms. The final chapters explore computational thinking and music in the contexts of making games with sound effects, teaching the computer to generate music using algorithms and rules, interacting with music using live video, finishing with a chapter on musical live coding, where readers will create and manipulate computer code to perform, improvise, and create original music live.

Reviewing the Revelation

Reviewing the Revelation PDF Author: Henry T. Hudson
Publisher: iUniverse
ISBN: 1440147116
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 290

Book Description
Rather than a verse by verse exposition of the Revelation, Dr Henry T. Hudson follows what he calls "A Pass in Review." He is interested more in the sweep of the book than in the jots and tittles. His conviction is that when a reader is able to comprehend the interrelationships between the various sections he will be able to apprehend its main message. As stated in this book, he does not want "any single tree" to block the view of the whole forest. It is a well known fact that the Revelation has been judged to be the most difficult book in the Bible. John Calvin, who wrote a wealth of commentaries on the books of thew Bible, wrote no commentary on the Revelation. Thomas Jefferson removed the book from his Bible. Carl Jung was of the opinion that no one believes the prophecies found therein. And even the "Blessed Jerome" was of the opinion that the Revelation "has as many interpretations as it has words," and "the layers of its meaning exceed the numbers of its words," but as Dr. Hudson points out, the opening verses make it very clear that there are both spiritual and practical blessings waiting for those who receive, search, and keep its message. He insists, those who possess the right spiritual attitude of both mind and heart will find that the book is "like a light that shineth in a dark place," and that it is an integral part, yea it can be called the climax of biblical prophecy. The front cover comes from a portion of the fresco of Luca Signorelli (circa 1499 AD) that appears on the walls and ceiling of the Cathredral in Orvieto, Italy.
