Jesus

Jesus PDF Author: Robert E. Macklin
Publisher: JESUS: THE FINAL JOURNEY
ISBN: 1424106559
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 235

Book Description
Wearing the same sandals I use when I portray Jesus in my one-man play, Road to Bethany, I walked the Stations of the Cross, collecting the same dirt from Jerusalem in my toes that Jesus did, then trudged up Mt. Olive. In the summer of 1992, I visited Israel intent on experiencing place-locations for my play. I went where He went, from the Dead Sea north to the shores of Galilee and beyond to the source of the Jordan River. After this visit it came to me that I should write about His last year on earth, because the gospels tell us where he went and what He did, but almost nothing of the awhy.a Accompany Him now, via these gospels, on this, His final journey, beginning with the feeding of the a5000, a and leading inexorably to His crucifixion, death and resurrection. On the way I will attempt to explain why He did what He did and why He went where He did. Think of Jesus: The Final Journey as a mystery story, not so much as a awhodunit, a but rather a awhydunit.a Shall we go?

Jesus Journey

Jesus Journey PDF Author: Trent Sheppard
Publisher: Zondervan
ISBN: 0310347726
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 257

Book Description
Jesus was human, like you and me. If the gospel is true, he still is. Christians worldwide believe that Jesus is God. But this belief wasn’t the starting point for Jesus’ earliest followers. While Jesus’ humanity was a given for the disciples, his divinity was a truth they grew into believing—it was a journey of faith. As Christians today, we are also called into a faith journey—this time, to rediscover Jesus’ humanity. Yes, we believe that Jesus is God, but do we truly believe that Jesus is human? And if so, how does that transform our own experience of being human? Through eye-opening yet down-to-earth reflections, Jesus Journey invites you to encounter Jesus again—as if for the first time—by experiencing his breathing, heart-beating, body-and-blood, crying-and-laughing humanity. Join Bible teacher and storyteller Trent Sheppard as he shines new light on the vibrant humanity of the historical Jesus through an up-close look at Jesus’ relationships with Mary and Joseph, with the God he called Abba, with his closest friends and followers, and how, ultimately, his crucifixion and resurrection finally and forever redefine what we mean by the word God. Come encounter the human who radically transforms our view of God. Come encounter the God who forever changes what it means to be human.

Jesus’ Last Week

Jesus’ Last Week PDF Author: R. Steven Notley
Publisher: BRILL
ISBN: 9047417356
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 356

Book Description
For the past forty years, but for only the first time in history, Christian scholars fluent in Hebrew and living in the land of Israel have collaborated with Jewish scholars to examine Jesus' sayings from a Judaic and Hebraic perspective. The result of this research confirms that Jesus was an organic part of the diverse social and religious landscape of Second Temple-period Judaism. He, like other Jewish sages of his time, used specialized methods to teach foundational Jewish theological concepts such as God's abundant grace. Jesus' teaching was revolutionary in a number of ways, particularly in three areas: his radical interpretation of the biblical commandment of mutual love; his call for a new morality; and his idea of the Kingdom of Heaven. Jerusalem Studies in the Synoptic Gospels, the initial volume, focuses on the Passion Narratives in a search for the Historical Jesus. It also reexamines the synoptic problem in light of recent historical and archaeological research. The volume represents the first attempt by members and associates of the Jerusalem School to apply collectively the methodology pioneered by Robert Lindsey and David Flusser. Included in the volume is the final article written by the late Professor Flusser, The Synagogue and the Church in the Synoptic Gospels.
