Excerpt from The Journal of Comparative Pathology and Therapeutics, 1897, Vol. 10 Two rabbits (a and B) were subcutaneously inoculated on the abdomen with a scraping taken from the centre of the hepatised area in the pig's lung. The scraping was suspended in bouillon, and the experiment was made with the customary precautions. One of the rabbits (a) was found dead forty-eight hours after inocula tion. The post-marten: examination showed a very slight inflammatory reaction at the seat of inoculation. A cover-glass preparation made from the blood of the ear showed fairly numerous short bacteria. Slanting agar tubes inoculated from the heart yielded an apparently pure culture of short bacteria with the characters above described. Excerpt from The Journal of Comparative Pathology and Therapeutics, 1901, Vol. 14 An Opportunity to make observations with regard to the situation of the lesions which result from generalisation was afforded by a number of the experiments which were carried out at the Royal Veterinary College during 1899 and 1900, at the instance of the Committee appointed by the Royal Agricultural Society of England to obtain evidence concerning the reliability of the tuberculin test. In the Committee's Report1 the lesions found at the post-marten: examination of each animal were stated briefly, but with sufficient detail to enable anyone to interpret the results of the experiment from the point of view of the inquiry - the reliability of the tuberculin test. In the following pages the particulars with regard to the autopsy of some of the animals will be set forth at greater length, and discussed from another point of view - via, the evidence which they afford regarding the most constant distribution of the lesions in cases of generalised tuberculosis.
