The purpose of this study was to gather data regarding the perceptions of Arkansas' rural elementary principals regarding teacher absenteeism. This study is important because teacher attendance rates continue to decrease. The study was conducted to help school districts develop policies and procedures to help combact teacher absenteeism. This quantitative study gathered data to determine perceptions of Arkansas rural elementary principals pertaining to teacher absenteeism. A survey was delivered tp 179 rural elementary principals in Arkansas to gather information on teacher absenteeism pertaining to personnnel policies and student achievement. The participants in this study indicated personnel policies in their district do impact teacher absenteeism and teacher absenteeism does have a negative impact of student achievement.
