Hydrodynamics of Foaming Trickle Bed Reactors

Hydrodynamics of Foaming Trickle Bed Reactors PDF Author: Sodhi Vijay
Publisher: LAP Lambert Academic Publishing
ISBN: 9783659507458
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 88

Book Description
Gas-liquid-solid (catalysts) reactive systems encountered in trickle bed reactors are common in chemical engineering related cocurrent gas and liquid downflow systems. Among these processes relying on trickle beds, hydrodynamics of foaming systems are less prominently explored subject despite the formation of foaming is very often in the petroleum industries. This study's aim was to demonstrate experimentally the effects of liquid and gas flow velocities, and liquid surface tension for key phenomenon like regime transition change, two-phase pressure drop, dynamic liquid hold-up and liquid axial dispersion. More than 240 experimental points for the trickle flow (GCF) and foaming pulsing flow (PF/FPF) regime were obtained for present study, revealed significant evaluations for sustainable process design especially for industrial applications.

High Pressure Process Technology: Fundamentals and Applications

High Pressure Process Technology: Fundamentals and Applications PDF Author: A. Bertucco
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0080533949
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 684

Book Description
Clear evidence of increasing demands in the processing industry prompted the editors and authors to publish a new book about High Pressure Process Technology: Fundamentals and Applications. This book presents the latest knowledge regarding the high pressure processing aspects combined with that about the modeling, the design and the operation of safe and reliable high pressure plants and equipment. This treatment and selection of the subjects is stimulating and unique. Consisting of nine chapters, each subdivided into several sections, the book addresses the high pressure aspects, providing well selected correlated information connected with a comprehensive overview together with a large number of references. The main body of the first eight chapters refers to subjects like high pressure in general, the thermodynamics and kinetics of the fluids involved, the design of high pressure equipment, the modeling and design of reactors, separation and fractionation units, the safety aspects, the control and economics. In the extended last chapter, examples of promising high pressure applications are explained, such as chemical and enzymatic reactions in supercritical solvents, hydrogenation under supercritical conditions, supercritical water oxidation, polymerization with metallocene catalysts, supercritical extraction, fractionation and precipitation, supercritical pharma processing, ultra-high pressure sterilization and supercritical dry-cleaning.

Catalytic Reactors

Catalytic Reactors PDF Author: Basudeb Saha
Publisher: Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG
ISBN: 3110332981
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 356

Book Description
Catalytic Reactors presents several key aspects of reactor design in Chemical and Process Engineering. Starting with the fundamental science across a broad interdisciplinary field, this graduate level textbook offers a concise overview on reactor and process design for students, scientists and practitioners new to the field. This book aims to collate into a comprehensive and well-informed work of leading researchers from north America, western Europe and south-east Asia. The editor and international experts discuss state-of-the-art applications of multifunctional reactors, biocatalytic membrane reactors, micro-flow reactors, industrial catalytic reactors, micro trickle bed reactors and multiphase catalytic reactors. The use of catalytic reactor technology is essential for the economic viability of the chemical manufacturing industry. The importance of Chemical and Process Engineering and efficient design of reactors are another focus of the book. Especially the combination of advantages from both catalysis and chemical reaction technology for optimization and intensification as essential factors in the future development of reactors and processes are discussed. Furthermore, options that can drastically influence reaction processes, e.g. choice of catalysts, alternative reaction pathways, mass and heat transfer effects, flow regimes and inherent design of catalytic reactors are reviewed in detail. Focuses on the state-of-the-art applications of catalytic reactors and optimization in the design and operation of industrial catalytic reactors Insights into transfer of knowledge from laboratory science to industry For students and researchers in Chemical and Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Catalysis and practising Engineers
