Book Description
Household Facilities and Equipment (HFE) survey is an annual survey with a sample size of approximately 35,000 households, representing almost all private households in Canada. CMHC first sponsored three questions on physical house condition, repair, and energy improvements on the 1982 HFE. Questions on household mobility status, and homeowner mortgage status were sponsored on the 1983 HFE. In 1985 CMHC was able to bring the questions in these areas together and sponsor them along with, for the first time, a question on dwelling value on the 1985 HFE survey. Previous data quality report findings were used to sponsor improved versions of the mortgage and mobility questions. Book Description
CMHC sponsored three questions on physical house condition, repair and energy improvement activity on the 1982 Survey of Household Facilities and Equipment (HFE) conducted by Statistics Canada. The results of the survey appear in Statistics Canada, 64-202 Annual, Household Facilities and Equipment, May 1982. Statistics Canada evaluated the quality of data obtained from the CMHC questions through analysis of: (1) field observation, (2) debriefing questionnaires, (3) failure rates to the edit rules, (4) imputation and response rates, (5) non-respondents, and (6) standard errors. The report concluded that the quality of the data should not have been seriously affected at any stage of the survey and that the estimates provided by the three questions are fairly reliable.

Freedom in the World 2006 PDF Author: Freedom House
Publisher: Rowman & Littlefield
ISBN: 9780742558038
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 924

Book Description
Freedom in the World, the Freedom House flagship survey whose findings have been published annually since 1972, is the standard-setting comparative assessment of global political rights and civil liberties. The survey ratings and narrative reports on 192 countries and a group of select territories are used by policy makers, the media, international corporations, and civic activists and human rights defenders to monitor trends in democracy and track improvements and setbacks in freedom worldwide. Press accounts of the survey findings appear in hundreds of influential newspapers in the United States and abroad and form the basis of numerous radio and television reports. The Freedom in the World political rights and civil liberties ratings are determined through a multi-layered process of research and evaluation by a team of regional analysts and eminent scholars. The analysts used a broad range of sources of information, including foreign and domestic news reports, academic studies, nongovernmental organizations, think tanks, individual professional contacts, and visits to the region, in conducting their research. The methodology of the survey is derived in large measure from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and these standards are applied to all countries and territories, irrespective of geographical location, ethnic or religious composition, or level of economic development.

Interpersonal Relationships in Education: From Theory to Practice

Interpersonal Relationships in Education: From Theory to Practice PDF Author: David Zandvliet
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 9462097011
Category : Education
Languages : en
Pages : 250

Book Description
This book brings together recent research on interpersonal relationships in education from a variety of perspectives including research from Europe, North America and Australia. The work clearly demonstrates that positive teacher-student relationships can contribute to student learning in classrooms of various types. Productive learning environments are characterized by supportive and warm interactions throughout the class: teacher-student and student-student. Similarly, at the school level, teacher learning thrives when there are positive and mentoring interrelationships among professional colleagues. Work on this book began with a series of formative presentations at the second International Conference on Interpersonal Relationships in Education (ICIRE 2012) held in Vancouver, Canada, an event that included among others, keynote addresses by David Berliner, Andrew Martin and Mieke Brekelmans. Further collaboration and peer review by the editorial team resulted in the collection of original research that this book comprises. The volume (while eclectic) demonstrates how constructive learning environment relationships can be developed and sustained in a variety of settings. Chapter contributions come from a range of fields including educational and social psychology, teacher and school effectiveness research, communication and language studies, and a variety of related fields. Together, they cover the important influence of the relationships of teachers with individual students, relationships among peers, and the relationships between teachers and their professional colleagues.
