I have been a whisky merchant and manufacturer for forty years and believe now, as I always have believed, that there is no more moral turpitude in manufacturing and selling an intoxicat mg liquor than there is in manufacturing and selling any other product, of course realizing that man is responsible to God for his every act and that the conditions surrounding every individual act must be taken into consideration in determining whether it be right or wrong. On May 4, 1964, Congress designated bourbon as a distinctive product of the United States, and it remains the only spirit produced in this country to enjoy such protection.
