Joseph Dunkley (1824-1901) was the son of Benjamin Dunkley and Sarah Briggs of Stratford, Essex, England. His mother was the daughter of John Briggs of Dorking, Surrey, Eng. They were the parents of eleven children. Joseph, the youngest, married (1) Margaret Leitch (1823-1873), daughter of John and Margaret Leitch of Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland. They were converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1852 and in 1854, they emigrated to New Orleans and St. Louis. Later, they went on to Salt Lake City and eventually settled at what is now Franklin, Idaho. They were unable to have any children, so with Margaret's consent he married (2) Mary Ann Hobbs (1847-1866). She died in childbirth with her first child. He married (3) Margaret Wright and they were the parents of twelve children. Several generations of ancestors and descendants are given.
