Excerpt from The Sixth Annual Report of the Public Library, of Cincinnati: June, 1873 The general result of the Treasurer's account is, that have been expended during the year for books and binding, and for salaries and other current expenses of the institution, the force employed in addition to the Librarian being twenty-five assistants and two jani tors. The proceeds of the Library tax of one-tenth of a mill, amount to appropriated exclusively to the pur chase of books. The outlay for all other purposes, includ ing for building, has been paid out of the School Fund, under your direction.
