Upon examination, however, it was found to contain much that was deemed unimportant, while it was deficient in other matters which would render it useful to sea captains and owners of plantations. It was determined, therefore, to cull from it and several other works Of a like character and equal reputation, such material as would make a reliable companion to the family and sea medicine chest. With this Object they have selected the matter from the following sources, viz.: Savory's Compendium Of DO mestic Medicine; Dinneford and Earland's Medicine Di rectory; Coxe's Companion to the Sea Medicine Chest; Household Surgery, or Hints on Emergencies, by J.
