Environmental Compliance Guidebook

Environmental Compliance Guidebook PDF Author: Christine Herndon
Publisher: American Water Works Association
ISBN: 1583218572
Category : Law
Languages : en
Pages : 329

Book Description
This guidebook is the result of working with agencies in the water sector over the past several years. Although water and wastewater utilities are intimately familiar with the requirements to meet their missions, whether delivering safe drinking water or treating wastewater and meeting discharge requirements, they are often much less familiar with other environmental regulations such as those governing the management of hazardous waste. Furthermore, most agencies do not have a person, much less a department, dedicated to ensuring environmental compliance. Therefore, the need for a guidebook such as this became apparent, and through the support of the American Water Works Association (AWWA), Water Utility Council (WUC), and the Water Industry Technical Action Fund (WITAF), it became a reality. Additionally, AWWA's legal advisors reviewed the guidebook to ensure it accurately describes and references the regulatory requirements. Water is a vital resource that no one can live without. Assisting utilities in complying with environmental regulations to minimize their risk is critical to ensure that resources available for capital improvements and other projects will enable facilities to fulfill their mission.

Environmental Regulations Handbook

Environmental Regulations Handbook PDF Author: Jacob I. Bregman
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 9780873714945
Category : Law
Languages : en
Pages : 324

Book Description
Environmental Regulations provides a comprehensive introduction to the environmental laws and regulations with which industry must comply to stay in business. It presents the laws passed by Congress to control pollution, the regulations developed by government agencies to comply with the requirements of those laws, penalties for violations of regulations, and how companies can determine whether or not they are in violation of regulations. To promote a better understanding of why current regulations are written in the manner they are, the book includes examples of the history, chronology, and setting in which environmental laws were developed and how they have evolved through time. It also provides an introduction to The Federal Register, codification, and the Code of Federal Regulations, as well as an examination of how a regulation is developed within government. Environmental Regulations addresses several important issues, including discharges to water, ambient and indoor air, solid and hazardous wastes, toxic pollutants, abandoned dumps, the worker environment, enforcement and compliance, environmental investigations, and environmental assessments. It will be a source of fundamental information on major environmental regulated areas for industry professionals, environmentalists, state environmental protection or department of natural resource personnel, engineers, environmental lawyers, and others who must understand environmental regulations and their enforcement. The book will also be a useful introduction for instructors and students involved in courses in water resources, systems analysis, and environmental engineering. Features

The Environmental Guidebook

The Environmental Guidebook PDF Author: United States. Federal Highway Administration
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Environmental policy
Languages : en
Pages :

Book Description
Until the early 1990s, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) maintained a 3-volume collection of environmental information known as the Environmental Guidebook. It included copies of FHWA memorandums, policy, guidance and instruction on a variety of environmental issues, laws, executive orders, and other information relevant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the Transportation Decisionmaking Process (Project Development). The Environmental Guidebook has been a valuable tool within FHWA, but over the years, and after many revisions, it became increasingly difficult to keep current and distribute to an ever expanding audience. This CD-ROM contains an updated and reformatted digital version of the original Environmental Guidebook. It includes all the original documents that were still current when the CD-ROM was produced, in addition to new and revised material. Refer to the companion website for new and updated information.
