He married Selena King (1812-1899), daughter of John King and Winifred Kemp, 6 November 1828 in Washington County, Georgia. They had eleven children. He died in Johnson County, Georgia in 1875. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in England, Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia.
