Book Description
This book addresses the true innovation in engineering design that may be promoted by blending together models and methodologies from different disciplines, and, in this book, the target was exactly to follow this approach to deliver a new disruptive architecture to deliver these next-generation mobile small cell technologies. According to this design philosophy, the work within this book resides in the intersection of engineering paradigms that includes “cooperation”, “network coding”, and “smart energy-aware frontends”. These technologies will not only be considered as individual building blocks, but re-engineered according to an inter-design approach resulting in the enabler for energy efficient femtocell-like services on the move. The book aims to narrow the gap between the current networking technologies and the foreseen requirements that are targeted at the future development of the 5G mobile and wireless communications networks in terms of the higher networking capacity, the ability to support more users, the lower cost per bit, the enhanced energy efficiency, and adaptability to new services and devices (for example, smart cities, and the Internet of things (IoT)).

High-Efficiency Load Modulation Power Amplifiers for Wireless Communications PDF Author: Zhancang Wang
Publisher: Artech House
ISBN: 1630814679
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 389

Book Description
This cutting-edge resource presents a complete and systematic overview of the practical design considerations of radio frequency (RF) high efficiency load modulation power amplifiers (PA) for modern wireless communications for 4G and beyond. It provides comprehensive insight into all aspects of load modulation PA design and optimization not only covering design approaches specifically for passive and active load modulation operation but also hybrid with dynamic supply modulation and digital signal processing algorithms required for performance enhancement. Passive load impedance tuner design, dynamic load modulation PA, active load modulation PA and Doherty PA design for efficiently enhancement are explained. Readers find practical guidance into load modulation PA design for bandwidth extension, including video bandwidth enhancement techniques, broadband dynamic load amplifiers, topology selection, design procedures, and network output. This book presents the evolution and integration of classical load modulation PA topologies in order to meet new challenges in the field.

A Practical Design of Lumped, Semi-lumped & Microwave Cavity Filters PDF Author: Dhanasekharan Natarajan
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 364232861X
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 146

Book Description
This book presents the application of microwave literature for designing lumped/semi-lumped filters and combline/iris-coupled microwave cavity filters. It provides the physical understanding of the terms and characteristics of radio frequency (RF) filters. The book complements engineering text books on RF components and provides support for the project assignments of students. In addition to the functional design of RF filters, the integrated design approach for produceability and reliability is explained.

Femtosecond Optical Frequency Comb: Principle, Operation and Applications

Femtosecond Optical Frequency Comb: Principle, Operation and Applications PDF Author: Jun Ye
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 0387237917
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 373

Book Description
Over the last few years, there has been a convergence between the fields of ultrafast science, nonlinear optics, optical frequency metrology, and precision laser spectroscopy. These fields have been developing largely independently since the birth of the laser, reaching remarkable levels of performance. On the ultrafast frontier, pulses of only a few cycles long have been produced, while in optical spectroscopy, the precision and resolution have reached one part in Although these two achievements appear to be completely disconnected, advances in nonlinear optics provided the essential link between them. The resulting convergence has enabled unprecedented advances in the control of the electric field of the pulses produced by femtosecond mode-locked lasers. The corresponding spectrum consists of a comb of sharp spectral lines with well-defined frequencies. These new techniques and capabilities are generally known as “femtosecond comb technology. ” They have had dramatic impact on the diverse fields of precision measurement and extreme nonlinear optical physics. The historical background for these developments is provided in the Foreword by two of the pioneers of laser spectroscopy, John Hall and Theodor Hänsch. Indeed the developments described in this book were foreshadowed by Hänsch’s early work in the 1970s when he used picosecond pulses to demonstrate the connection between the time and frequency domains in laser spectroscopy. This work complemented the advances in precision laser stabilization developed by Hall.

Microwave Filters for Communication Systems

Microwave Filters for Communication Systems PDF Author: Richard J. Cameron
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 1118274342
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 928

Book Description
An in-depth look at the state-of-the-art in microwave filter design, implementation, and optimization Thoroughly revised and expanded, this second edition of the popular reference addresses the many important advances that have taken place in the field since the publication of the first edition and includes new chapters on Multiband Filters, Tunable Filters and a chapter devoted to Practical Considerations and Examples. One of the chief constraints in the evolution of wireless communication systems is the scarcity of the available frequency spectrum, thus making frequency spectrum a primary resource to be judiciously shared and optimally utilized. This fundamental limitation, along with atmospheric conditions and interference have long been drivers of intense research and development in the fields of signal processing and filter networks, the two technologies that govern the information capacity of a given frequency spectrum. Written by distinguished experts with a combined century of industrial and academic experience in the field, Microwave Filters for Communication Systems: Provides a coherent, accessible description of system requirements and constraints for microwave filters Covers fundamental considerations in the theory and design of microwave filters and the use of EM techniques to analyze and optimize filter structures Chapters on Multiband Filters and Tunable Filters address the new markets emerging for wireless communication systems and flexible satellite payloads and A chapter devoted to real-world examples and exercises that allow readers to test and fine-tune their grasp of the material covered in various chapters, in effect it provides the roadmap to develop a software laboratory, to analyze, design, and perform system level tradeoffs including EM based tolerance and sensitivity analysis for microwave filters and multiplexers for practical applications. Microwave Filters for Communication Systems provides students and practitioners alike with a solid grounding in the theoretical underpinnings of practical microwave filter and its physical realization using state-of-the-art EM-based techniques.
