Book Description
Excerpt from The Craft Sinister I agree with the reader that it seems nonsensical to add an "Introduction" to a book, which already has a "Preface." But in this case something had to be added, and if I have taken recourse to the word "Introduction" it is for no other reason than that this word seemed as good as any other. This manuscript has been making the rounds of publishing houses for a year now. The "Preface" was pre-dated to May 1, 1919. In reality the book was completed two months before that, and represented then the labor of about eight months, not counting three years of work in Central Europe and another year in the United States- time devoted to the study of the subject and the experience that had to be gained. The publishers who had the manuscript were afraid to publish it. One of them had indeed accepted the book and went so far as to place it among his "Announcements" to the book trade. But something went wrong. Another publisher was torn by his emotions" for the space of weeks and finally admitted that it would be "too dangerous for his firm" to publish the book. The man feared the High and Mighty in Washington, and well he might. He was of the opinion that there was involved a public duty, and that he should meet it. "But," he said, "if I get into trouble the public won't thank me." For the man in question I will say that I fully sympathize with him. A few might feel different about it, in case the Most Honorable Burleson denied the mails of the United States to him, but the dear public, that great mass of people which is swayed only by the passions of the day, would, in its fervor to please the Powerful, do little better than boycott his books besides. But it seems wholly useless to go into further details of this sort. Publishing is a business, not a mission, and wise indeed the publisher who keeps this in mind. For not to keep it in mind means that he will not be a publisher for long. I have, then, no quarrel with any publisher. In fact, I sympathize with all of them. Consequences of Crying
Author: Abigail Kade
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 118
Book Description
I played a game and didn't know the rules. Now, no one believes a vampire wants my soul. I'm going to have to pay the consequences, but I won't be alone. Lying pays my bills. If the masses are naive enough to believe my lies, what's the harm? They're all sheep to me anyway, ripe for the fleecing. All except him. Running from disgrace, I found my new neighbor was intense, captivating, and handsome...at first. I foolishly played with his fire, and now I'm burning. As he uses my body and destroys my barriers, it's impossible to remember who I am, or what I want. His seduction of pain and passion are almost too much to resist. But there's another there and he helps me hold on. Can I risk trusting anything or anyone in this maelstrom of pleasure, pain and memory? In the end, trust is betrayed. I'm the fool who's destined to pay for crying wolf, and have my blood and soul devoured by my captor. I'm starting to believe my tormentor may be right when he says I'll find my truth, my future, by giving in to his demands. But when the other offers me salvation, can I trust again? Between these two impossible beings, I'm caught, with no way to get free. One may be my death, while the other is my eternity. Consequences of Crying is a dark and modern m/m retelling of The Boy Who Cried Wolf. With an obsessive vampire, a vengeful incubus and a human stuck in the middle, there are intense situations and very dark desires. Relationships may be deemed unhealthy and include possible triggering content. Grim and Sinister Delights is a dark romance series based on classic fairy tales and stories. You will find standalone tales of gay romance that range in darkness and kinks. If you dare to take the challenge, read them all to find yourself lost in a classic that you think you know. These stories aref or adult readers and may contain morally ambiguous themes.

Await Your Reply
Author: Dan Chaon
Publisher: Ballantine Books
ISBN: 0345517024
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 337
Book Description
BONUS: This edition contains an Await Your Reply discussion guide. The lives of three strangers interconnect in unforeseen ways–and with unexpected consequences–in acclaimed author Dan Chaon’s gripping, brilliantly written new novel. Longing to get on with his life, Miles Cheshire nevertheless can’t stop searching for his troubled twin brother, Hayden, who has been missing for ten years. Hayden has covered his tracks skillfully, moving stealthily from place to place, managing along the way to hold down various jobs and seem, to the people he meets, entirely normal. But some version of the truth is always concealed. A few days after graduating from high school, Lucy Lattimore sneaks away from the small town of Pompey, Ohio, with her charismatic former history teacher. They arrive in Nebraska, in the middle of nowhere, at a long-deserted motel next to a dried-up reservoir, to figure out the next move on their path to a new life. But soon Lucy begins to feel quietly uneasy. My whole life is a lie, thinks Ryan Schuyler, who has recently learned some shocking news. In response, he walks off the Northwestern University campus, hops on a bus, and breaks loose from his existence, which suddenly seems abstract and tenuous. Presumed dead, Ryan decides to remake himself–through unconventional and precarious means. Await Your Reply is a literary masterwork with the momentum of a thriller, an unforgettable novel in which pasts are invented and reinvented and the future is both seductively uncharted and perilously unmoored.

Crime Against Nature
Author: Minnie Bruce Pratt

ISBN:
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 136
Book Description
"Designated as the prestigious 1989 Lamont Poetry Selection by the Academy of American Poets, and winner of the 1991 American Library Association Gay/Lesbian Book Award, Pratt's Crime Against Nature is a stunning achievement. This beautifully crafted sequence of poems takes its title from language in the statute under which the author could have been prosecuted as a lesbian if she had sought legal custody of her children. These are poems of despair, self-doubt, sexual bliss, sexual shame, exhilaration, rage, hope, victory. In Crime Against Nature, Pratt breathes new life into the words lesbian, poet, mother. Without contradiction or self-denial, she holds herself, her loves, and her children in a world of passion, of power being realized, of wholeness."--AUTHOR WEBSITE.
