This seventh and final volume of The Course of Life completes the developmental cycle with a discussion by specialists in the field of aging regarding the special concerns of those 65 and older. As George H. Pollock notes in his Preface "the developmental point of view -- a hallmark of psychoanalytic psychology -- is now one of the standard approaches to understanding life progression and associated pathology".
