The largest absolute increases in cotton production from 1950 to 1951 are in Texas. California, and Mississippi, where 2054, 772, and 668 thousand more bales are expected than last year. The largest relative increases in the major cotton producing States are indicated in North Carolina, Oklahoma and South Carolina, where production is expected to rise by 237, 181 and 112 percent, (table There were no legal restrictions on cotton acreage in 1951.
