Book Description
Excerpt from The Chestnut Burr, 1923, Vol. 10: The Book of the Year Working under the direction of the Dean of Women in Kent are the two house mothers of Moulton and Lowry Halls, the dietitian, and the resident nurse. Together these form the Dean's Council, which meets regularly to con sider all the matters concerning the women residing in the halls. As there are about twice as many women students at Kent State living off campus as on, the Dean's major problem is to get into close touch with the women who board or live at home in Kent, or at home. In nearby towns. To accomplish this purpose, an Off Campus Women's Club has been formed, which has already done much. In November, the Dean of Women gave a tea to all the landladies of Kent who have college women living with them, that they might become better acquainted and might better understand their mutual relationships and responsibilities. During the winter term, the Dean of Women visited the houses in Kent, and made a list of approved rooming places for college women students. Historical Common Names of Great Plains Plants, with Scientific Names Index: Volume II: Scientific Names Index PDF Author: Elaine Nowick
Publisher: Lulu.com
ISBN: 1609620607
Category : Nature
Languages : en
Pages : 474

Book Description
Containing thousands of entries of both vernacular and scientific names of Great Plains plants, the literature that informs this exhaustive listing spans nearly 300 years. Author Elaine Nowick has drawn from sources as diverse as Linnaeus, Lewis and Clark, and local university extension publications to compile the gamut of practical, and often fanciful, common plant names used over the years. Each common name is accompanied by a definitive scientific name with references and authority information. Interspersed with scientifically-correct botanical line drawings, the entries are written in standard ICBN format, making this a useful volume for scholars as well as lay enthusiasts alike. Volume 2 indexes the scientific names of those species, followed by listings of all the common names applied to them. Both volumes refer the common and scientific names back to a list of 190 pertinent authoritative sources.

The Chemistry of the Actinide and Transactinide Elements (3rd ed., Volumes 1-5)

The Chemistry of the Actinide and Transactinide Elements (3rd ed., Volumes 1-5) PDF Author: L.R. Morss
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1402035985
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 4059

Book Description
The Chemistry of the Actinide and Transactinide Elements is a contemporary and definitive compilation of chemical properties of all of the actinide elements, especially of the technologically important elements uranium and plutonium, as well as the transactinide elements. In addition to the comprehensive treatment of the chemical properties of each element, ion, and compound from atomic number 89 (actinium) through to 109 (meitnerium), this multi-volume work has specialized and definitive chapters on electronic theory, optical and laser fluorescence spectroscopy, X-ray absorption spectroscopy, organoactinide chemistry, thermodynamics, magnetic properties, the metals, coordination chemistry, separations, and trace analysis. Several chapters deal with environmental science, safe handling, and biological interactions of the actinide elements. The Editors invited teams of authors, who are active practitioners and recognized experts in their specialty, to write each chapter and have endeavoured to provide a balanced and insightful treatment of these fascinating elements at the frontier of the periodic table. Because the field has expanded with new spectroscopic techniques and environmental focus, the work encompasses five volumes, each of which groups chapters on related topics. All chapters represent the current state of research in the chemistry of these elements and related fields.
