Excerpt from The Act of Incorporation and by-Laws of the Philadelphia Medical Society: Instituted 1789 He Shall enter in proper place, and in a book kept exclusively for the purpose, the names, titles and residence of honorary members and the date of their elec tion. He shall insert in the same book the name, titles, and residence of those who have become honorary mem bers by receiving a degree in Medicine. He shall keep a separate record of all resolutions, having the force of by-laws, and shall have them published as a supplement to the printed code, at the end of each session. He shall cause to be published weekly, dur ing the session, the name of the lecturer and subject for the next stated meeting. The minutes shall be regularly signed by the recording secretary, as also all the acts and diplomas of the society, and the minute book, book of honorary membership, and other papers connected with his department, shall be confided to his care, and he shall be required to de liver them In good order to his successor. He shall deliver to the treasurer, weekly, a list of the junior members introduced into the society. If he shall be absent at the time for constituting the society, he shall be fined one dollar, unless In case of sickness, when he shall give due notice thereof, and transmit a correct statement of the minutes of the preceding meeting.
