Cell Language Theory, The: Connecting Mind And Matter PDF Author: Sungchul Ji
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 1911299778

Languages : en
Pages : 610

Book Description
This book represents the results of 45 years of research on a wide range of topics, including atomic physics, single-molecule enzymology, whole-cell metabolism, physiology, pharmacology, linguistics, semiotics, and cosmology. It describes the first comprehensive molecular theory of the genotype-phenotype coupling based on two key theoretical concepts: (i) the conformon, the conformational wave packet in biopolymers carrying both the free energy and genetic information; and (ii) the intracellular dissipative structures, the chemical concentration waves inside the cell that serve as the immediate drivers of all cell functions. Conformons provide the driving forces for all molecular machines in the cell, and intracellular dissipative structures coordinate intra- and intercellular processes such as gene expression and cell-cell communications. One of the predictions made by the cell language theory (CLT) is that there are two forms of genetic information — the Watson-Crick genes transmitting information in time (identified with DNA), and the Prigoginian genes transmitting information in space (identified with RNA expression profiles). The former is analogous to sheet music or written language and the latter is akin to audio music or spoken language, both being coupled by conformons acting as the analog of the pianist. The new theory of DNA structure and function constructed on the basis of CLT can rationally account for most of the puzzling findings recently unearthed by the ENCODE (Encyclopedia of DNA Elements) project. The Cell Language Theory has important applications in biomedical sciences including drug discovery research and personalized medicine on the one hand and in the mind-body research and consciousness studies on the other.

Molecular Theory of the Living Cell

Molecular Theory of the Living Cell PDF Author: Sungchul Ji
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1461421527
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 751

Book Description
The book presents the first comprehensive molecular theory of the living cell ever published since the cell doctrine was formulated in 1838-1839. It introduces into cell biology over thirty key concepts, principles and laws imported from physics, chemistry, computer science, linguistics, semiotics and philosophy. The author formulates physically, chemically and enzymologically realistic molecular mechanisms to account for basic living processes such as ligand-receptor interactions, enzymic catalysis, force-generating mechanisms in molecular motors, chromatin remodelling, and signal transduction. Possible solutions to basic and practical problems facing contemporary biology and biomedical sciences have been suggested, including pharmacotherapeutics and personalized medicine.

The scope is very general and includes, among others, the following topics and areas: grammars, acceptors and transducers for words; trees and graphs; relations between formal languages and artificial neural networks; algebraic theories of automata; algorithmic, combinatorial, and algebraic properties of words and languages; variable length codes; symbolic dynamics; cellular automata; groups and semigroups generated by automata; polyominoes and multidimensional patterns; decidability questions; image manipulation and compression; efficient text algorithms; relationships to cryptography, concurrency, complexity theory, and logic; bio-inspired computing; and quantum computing.

Cell Theory

Cell Theory PDF Author: Carol Hand
Publisher: Cavendish Square Publishing, LLC
ISBN: 1502643707
Category : Young Adult Nonfiction
Languages : en
Pages : 130

Book Description
The field of cell biology is built on a foundation of discoveries stretching back to the earliest descriptions of cell theory in the 1800s. Today, our growing insight into cells and their control of life functions continues to generate advances in areas such as medicine, agriculture, genetics, and reproduction. This book traces the rise of cell biology and explains biological concepts through easy-to-follow text. Sidebars provide biographies of key scientists and descriptions of the evolution of microscopes and other significant technologies. Readers travel deep inside the cell, following the path of scientists as they unlock its mysteries.

Theoretical Information Studies: Information In The World

Theoretical Information Studies: Information In The World PDF Author: Mark Burgin
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9813277505
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 534

Book Description
This is the first attempt to delineate the synthetic field of the theoretical study of information, treating information as the basic phenomenon on the fundamental level of the world, encompassing nature, technology, individuals and society. The exploration of information is done within Info-computational approaches, to natural and social phenomena such as Bioinformatics, Information Physics, Informational Chemistry, Computational Physics, Cognitive and Social sciences, with special emphasis on interdisciplinary, crossdisciplinary and transdisciplinary knowledge. The book presents results of collaboration across research fields within info-computational and info-structural frameworks, in attempt to better theoretically and conceptually capture the phenomenon of information and its dynamics (such as computation and communication), as they appear on different levels of organization, on different scales and in different contexts.

Linguistic Diversity and Language Theories

Linguistic Diversity and Language Theories PDF Author: Zygmunt Frajzyngier
Publisher: John Benjamins Publishing
ISBN: 9027294623
Category : Language Arts & Disciplines
Languages : en
Pages : 446

Book Description
From the refinement of general methodology, to new insights of synchronic and diachronic universals, to studies of specific phenomena, this collection demonstrates the crucial role that language data play in the evolution of useful, accurate linguistic theories. Issues addressed include the determination of meaning in typological studies; a refined understanding of diachronic processes by including intentional, social, statistical, and level-determined phenomena; the reconsideration of categories such as sentence, evidential or adposition, and structures such as compounds or polysynthesis; the tension between formal simplicity and functional clarity; the inclusion of unusual systems in theoretical debates; and fresh approaches to Chinese classifiers, possession in Oceanic languages, and English aspect. This is a careful selection of papers presented at the International Symposium on Linguistic Diversity and Language Theories in Boulder, Colorado. The purpose of the Symposium was to confront fundamental issues in language structure and change with the rich variation of forms and functions observed across languages.

The Real-Object-Hypothesis of Language (The ROAL-Model)

The Real-Object-Hypothesis of Language (The ROAL-Model) PDF Author: Noury Bakrim
Publisher: BoD - Books on Demand
ISBN: 2322376590
Category : Language Arts & Disciplines
Languages : en
Pages : 68

Book Description
In addition of proposing a model of language based on a bio-mathematical reduction within a synthesis between deduction, induction it suggests a much more important role of learning symmetry (especially iconicity) parallel to Universal Grammar. Without any theoretical megalomania, the model you will be discovering, reading and hopefully discussing hypothesizes two propositional principles with an important role of thermodynamic information : the shift from the bio-semiotic to the semiotic order along with the neural/dynamic mapping is embedded in the shift from thermodynamic laws without proposition (methodologically defined by hypothetic-probabilistic states of the ''internal observer'', Boltzmann-Bernoulli proposals and quantization) to biological and cultural consciousness (selection, combination, self-reference and symmetry etc etc)
