Where is The Cure for Cancer? Have you ever wondered why in the past 100 years a cure for cancer has not been found? You're not alone! We've all lost someone we love to cancer and we all want to see it gone. But after spending $500 Billion dollars of our generous donations on cancer research over the past 50 years, the people who promised us a cure have given us literally nothing for preventing or curing the disease. Are they incompetent? Or are cures and effective treatments purposefully being suppressed so the industry can keep raking in money? It's time to find out the truth. The Truth About Cancer After losing his mother to cancer at age 12, bestselling author Mark Sloan has conducted a historic and monumental investigation into The Cancer Industry to find out why she died such an agonizing death. Backed by evidence from over 600 scientific and clinical references, The Cancer Industry will guide you on a journey into cancer treatments - surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy - as well as cancer screening tests - Mammography and The PSA Test. A World Without Cancer

A World Without Cancer PDF Author: Margaret I. Cuomo
Publisher: Rodale
ISBN: 1623361591
Category : Health & Fitness
Languages : en
Pages : 306

Book Description
A provocative and surprising investigation into the ways that profit, personalities, and politics obstruct real progress in the war on cancer—and one doctor's passionate call to action for change This year, nearly 1.6 million new cases of cancer will be diagnosed and more than 1,500 people will die per day. We've been asked to accept the disappointing strategy to "manage cancer as a chronic disease." We've allowed pharmaceutical companies to position cancer drugs that extend life by just weeks and may cost $100,000 for a single course of treatment as breakthroughs. Why have we been able to cure and prevent other killer diseases but not most cancers? Where is the bold government leadership that will transform our system from treatment to prevention? Have we forgotten the mission of the National Cancer Act of 1971, to "conquer cancer"? Through an analysis of over 40 years of medical evidence and interviews with cancer doctors, researchers, drug company executives, and health policy advisors, Dr. Cuomo reveals frank and intriguing answers to these questions. She shows us how all cancer stakeholders—the pharmaceutical industry, government, physicians, and concerned Americans—can change the way we view and fight cancer in this country.

Transforming Clinical Research in the United States

Transforming Clinical Research in the United States PDF Author: Institute of Medicine
Publisher: National Academies Press
ISBN: 0309163358
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 151

Book Description
An ideal health care system relies on efficiently generating timely, accurate evidence to deliver on its promise of diminishing the divide between clinical practice and research. There are growing indications, however, that the current health care system and the clinical research that guides medical decisions in the United States falls far short of this vision. The process of generating medical evidence through clinical trials in the United States is expensive and lengthy, includes a number of regulatory hurdles, and is based on a limited infrastructure. The link between clinical research and medical progress is also frequently misunderstood or unsupported by both patients and providers. The focus of clinical research changes as diseases emerge and new treatments create cures for old conditions. As diseases evolve, the ultimate goal remains to speed new and improved medical treatments to patients throughout the world. To keep pace with rapidly changing health care demands, clinical research resources need to be organized and on hand to address the numerous health care questions that continually emerge. Improving the overall capacity of the clinical research enterprise will depend on ensuring that there is an adequate infrastructure in place to support the investigators who conduct research, the patients with real diseases who volunteer to participate in experimental research, and the institutions that organize and carry out the trials. To address these issues and better understand the current state of clinical research in the United States, the Institute of Medicine's (IOM) Forum on Drug Discovery, Development, and Translation held a 2-day workshop entitled Transforming Clinical Research in the United States. The workshop, summarized in this volume, laid the foundation for a broader initiative of the Forum addressing different aspects of clinical research. Future Forum plans include further examining regulatory, administrative, and structural barriers to the effective conduct of clinical research; developing a vision for a stable, continuously funded clinical research infrastructure in the United States; and considering strategies and collaborative activities to facilitate more robust public engagement in the clinical research enterprise.

The Politics of Cancer Revisited

The Politics of Cancer Revisited PDF Author: Samuel S. Epstein
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Health & Fitness
Languages : en
Pages : 804

Book Description
"The Politics of Cancer Revisited," by internationally renowned authority on cancer causes and preventions, Samuel S. Epstein, M.D., backed by meticulous documentation, charges that the cancer establishment remains myopically fixated on damage control--diagnosis and treatment, and basic genetic research with, not always benign, indifference to cancer prevention research and failure of outreach to Congress, regulatory agencies, and the public with scientific information on unwitting exposures to a wide range of avoidable causes of cancer. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the American Cancer Society (ACS) are also accused of pervasive conflicts of interest, particularly with the cancer drug industry.
