Book Description
"Waking up from a coma in a remote Wyoming cabin, Sheik Amir Khalid thought he was dreaming when he laid eyes on the woman he'd spent one steamy weekend with. Dr. Isabelle Andrews was every bit as gorgeous as he remembered--and nine months pregnant. But when shots rang out and it was clear their hideaway had been discovered, Amir's questions had to wait. Desperate to keep Isabelle and his unborn baby safe, Amir vowed to personally guard them 24/7. And as the independent beauty fought him at every turn, he knew it wasn't just royal protocol that made him want to keep her by his side. He'd give up everything that was expected of him if it meant protecting the family he'd only just met. Including his life"--Publisher.

Book Description
Book 1. Sheikhs Diamond True love is priceless—or is it? Sheikh Masoud Khalidizack is terminally bored by palace life. With his elder brother inheriting his father’s responsibilities and his younger brother treating life like one big party, he often feels left behind. When a family friend suggests a bet to see which brother will be left unwed at the end of the year, Masoud thinks it’s impossible to lose and he’s already making plans on what to do with the prize - Muharraq Island. That all changes with the arrival of headstrong Fleur Summers, a beautiful archaeologist bent on finding the legendary Solomon Diamond. It was once part of the Khalidizack family’s heritage, but now it is lost to history. Her reputation depends on finding it and putting it into a museum, but the distractingly handsome Sheikh who hired her certainly isn’t helping. In fact, Masoud intends to restore the diamond to its rightful place – in the Khalidizack palace. In a race against ruthless rivals that spans continents, finding the prize will either bring them together or destroy one of their lives. Book 2. Sheikhs Crown Is love more precious than wealth? Shiekh Adil is the youngest of the three brothers of the wealthy Khalidizack family, and notorious for his playboy ways. The womanizer seems the least likely brother to marry after the high-stakes wedding bet with Shiekh Rameez. When the family entrusts him with supervising the loan of their art and jewels to the Louvre—he reluctantly accepts. It seems like a chore, until he meets the feisty woman who changes everything. Samine Isme is a journalist covering the Louvre loan. Brilliant and independent, she has a cool exterior that Adil finds utterly entrancing. With the sudden theft of the Khalidizack collection on its way to the museum, they’ll have to work together to restore the treasures to their rightful place. In a race across Europe tracing stolen antiquities, an old enemy emerges to settle a score. Now, Adil must face the threat to save his family’s honor and avoid his own disgrace, but can he trust that the woman he loves is really on his side? Book 3. Sheikh's Amulet Sometimes, love is stolen... The eldest of three brothers, Sheikh Jaymin Khalidizack is mere months away from wining the wedding bet—after all, he’s far too serious to get swept up in romance. The stubborn, arrogant, and simmeringly sexy Sheikh has far more important issues on his mind. But he'll have to reconsider his position when a beautiful party guest’s priceless amulet is stolen on his watch. Tamrin Lewis is everything Jaymin is not—fun-loving, carefree, and full of life. She’s also the daughter of a con artist on the run for his life. She thought Jaymin would be an easy mark for the two million dollars her father needs to get a ruthless, and familiar, creditor off his trail. When the sheikh takes her out dancing to apologize for her necklace being "stolen," though, she has trouble sticking to the plan... Book 4. Sheikh's Island Does love solve all? Shiekh Rameez Molamid doesn’t believe in love. He only cares about looking out for his interests, and after winning Muharraq Island from the Khalidzack brothers in the wedding bet, he’s certainly proven that he can trust his instincts. But when a feud threatens to tear his family apart, he has to do what he can to make peace for the sake of his elderly mother. Wynifred Fellows, author of the upcoming book Love Solves All, is brought in to heal the rift within the family. The last thing she expects is to feel a spark of mutual attraction for the handsome bachelor Rameez. But when Rameez and his cousin Haris begin competing for her attention, the feud—and the bedroom—start to heat up. With tensions at a fever pitch, Wynifred knows the only logical thing is to force a confrontation, so she "strands" the three of them on Muharraq Island. What she doesn’t know is that dangerous art collector Anton Negatin is waiting to get his hands on the island, by any means necessary—even murder.

Book Description
Just once, Raina Mousa wants to do something daring, something her loving but strict parents would never approve of. Though Raina’s lived most of her life in the U.S., she’s agreed to an arranged marriage and to settle down in her parents’ home country of Al-Mifadhir. Before she meets her fiancé, however, she can’t resist having a night of fun with the hot, sexy man she meets in a bar. The next morning, though, she’s horrified to discover the man she’s just spent one unforgettable night with is her future husband’s brother, Chadil Halabi. The good news? Chadil’s elderly and confused aunt brokered a marriage contract with a man who was already married. So now Raina doesn’t feel quite so guilty about her amazing night with Chadil. But then Chadil’s aunt makes things infinitely worse by announcing to the world that Chadil and Raina are engaged. Chadil’s solution? A fake courtship. They’ll spend a few weeks together, say they don’t suit, then go their separate ways. Except things are about to get a little bit complicated… Chadil knows a fake courtship is not the best solution to their predicament, but it’s vital his family avoid scandal. What’s the worst that can happen? Plus, spending time with Raina isn’t exactly a trial. Once their time together is over, Chadil can continue his blissfully free bachelor’s life and Raina can return to Baltimore. Yet their moments together prove they’re far more compatible than either had thought, and they’re getting pretty darn good at fooling the press into believing they really are a couple. They just need to get through the next few weeks without doing something monumentally stupid in front of the paparazzi. If only Raina could understand appearances mean everything—even more than the truth. But the press is relentless, and it isn’t long before rumors of a break-up are rampant. Problem is, this time the press has the story totally correct. To save their relationship, Chadil has to do the hardest thing he’s ever done: be honest with himself, with the press…and with Raina.

Book Description
Prince Danyal Halabi has always been the black sheep of the royal family, with no responsibilities and no plans for the future. And now thanks to his drinking buddies’ prank, he’s about to prove everyone has been right about him all along. Getting a mail-order bride was just a lark, something his friends laughingly convinced him to do after he’d had one too many. But what started out as a joke is now standing at the palace’s front door with a toddler in tow. Yes, Jayne Barnes is just as beautiful in person as she is in her profile picture, but does she really expect him to marry her? And could their contract be binding? Danyal enjoys his life as a playboy, and the thought of being a father to Jayne’s son and opening himself up to any woman is terrifying. There’s no way he’s getting married. But his older brothers have different ideas… Desperate times call for desperate measures, which was how Jayne got herself and her son, Noah, into this mess. With no home and a near-empty bank account, this mail-order bride business was a Hail Mary that actually worked. Well, would have worked if the prince had been serious about marrying her. Now, she’s stuck here in Al-Mifadhir, at least until the lawyers figure out if the contract they signed is valid. In the meantime, to avoid yet another scandal for the royals, she’s agreed to have a fake courtship to silence the gossips and appease Danyal’s brothers. Spending time with a hot prince isn’t too much of a sacrifice. Besides, her son has bonded to Danyal in a way that is as heartwarming as it is worrisome. There’s no denying Danyal is charming and spectacularly sexy. But he’s hiding something vital from her, and now Jayne has to decide if this man is worth staying for...

Book Description
What happens to our pop culture when it meets another culture head-on—especially one that, according to some, is completely at odds with our own? In The Sheikh’s Batmobile, pop culture commentator Richard Poplak sets out on an unusual two-year odyssey. His mission is to see what becomes of his and America’s obsessions—pop songs and sitcoms, Hollywood movies and shoot-'em-up video games, muscle cars and punk music—when they make their way into the Muslim world. Over the course of his journey, Poplak gets body-slammed by WWE fans in Afghanistan, hangs out with hip-hop artists in Palestine, headbangs to heavy metal in Cairo, discovers a world of extreme makeovers in Beirut, bowls with the chief of police in small-town Kazakhstan, and encounters a mysterious Texan who builds rocket-propelled Batmobiles for a clientele of sheikhs. With uproarious humor and keen cultural insight, Poplak asks some vital questions: How is American pop culture consumed and reinterpreted in the Islamic world? What does that say about how we are viewed by young Muslims? And can Homer Simpson bridge the divisions that are tearing our world apart?

Divine Fertility
Author: Sada Mire
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 0429769245
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 327
Book Description
This book uniquely explores the impact of indigenous ideology and thought on everyday life in Northeast Africa. Furthermore, in highlighting the diversity in pre-Christian, pre-Islamic regional beliefs and practices that extend beyond the simplistic political arguments of the current dominant narratives, the study shows that for millennia complex indigenous institutions have bound people together beyond the labels of Christianity and Islam; they have sustained peace through cultural exchange and tolerance (if not always complete acceptance). Through recent archaeological and ethnographic research, the concepts, landscapes, materials and rituals believed to be associated with the indigenous and shared culture of the Sky-God belief are examined. The author makes sense, for the first time, of the relationship between the notion of sacred fertility and a number of regional archaeological features and on-going ancient practices including FGM, spirit possessions, and other physically invasive practices and the ritual hunt. The book explores one of the most important pilgrimage centres in Somaliland and Somalia, the sacred landscape of Saint Aw-Barkhadle, founded ca. 12th century AD. It is believed to be the burial place of the rulers of the first Muslim Ifat and Awdal dynasties in this region, and potentially the lost first capital of Awdal kingdom before Harar. This ritual centre is seen as a ‘microcosm’ of the ancient Horn of Africa with its exceptional multi-religious heritage, through which the author lays out a locally appropriate archaeological interpretational framework, the "Ritual Set," also applied here to the Ethiopian sites of Tiya, Sheikh Hussein Bale, Aksum and Lalibela, setting these places against a wider historical background of indigenous Sky-God belief. This archaeological study of sacred landscapes, stelae traditions, ancient Christian and medieval Muslim centres of Northeast Africa is the first to put forward a theoretical and analytical framework for the interpretation of the shared regional heritage and the indigenous archaeology of the region. It will be invaluable to archaeologists, anthropologists, historians and policymakers interested in Africa and beyond.
