Engineering Balance

Engineering Balance PDF Author: Jonathan E. Abbott
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 59

Book Description
This work presents a view of balance useful for mechanical engineers. Mechanical engineers often need to make quick intelligent decisions using conceptual and physical understanding. The typical mechanical engineering instruction usually provides a good basis for \back of the envelope" calculations, especially for mechanical systems; however, one exception to this case is in the field of dynamics and control. Dynamics and control is generally taught with much math, modelling most systems with differential equations. Although math is useful for designing control systems, when designing products for people who act as sophisticated controllers the engineer needs a more general understanding of balance. This work presents a conceptual intuitive way to break the act of balance into distinct mechanisms and thereby quickly evaluate how a system balances.

Application of System Identification in Engineering

Application of System Identification in Engineering PDF Author: H.G. Natke
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3709126282
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 577

Book Description
System identification is a powerful tool in engineering. Its various methods in the frequency and in the time domain have been extensively discussed in earlier CISM courses. The aim of this course is to describe the state of the art in specific application areas, such as estimation of eigenquantities (in the aerospace industry, in civil engineering, in naval engineering etc.), noise source detection, fault detection by investigation of dynamic properties, such as machine sound characteristics, and the identification of the dynamic behaviour of flow induced systems (e.g. aerolastic problems). Geotechnical applications are also among the fields of interest. The lecture notes contain demonstrations of several methods and include a valuation by combining various kinds of experience. Such complex information includes not only theoretical aspects of identification but also advice on practical handling, for example concerning testing effort and data handling.
