Sight Singing Complete

Sight Singing Complete PDF Author: Maureen Carr
Publisher: McGraw-Hill Humanities, Social Sciences & World Languages
ISBN:
Category : Music
Languages : en
Pages : 380

Book Description
Designed for the sight singing component of the Freshman and Sophomore music major curriculum, Sight Singing Complete presents the essential components of this sometimes difficult skill in a practical and effective manner. "Hearing music with one's eyes" has served as the theme of Sight Singing Complete since the first edition. In order to reach this goal, the sequence of instructional material is designed to help students develop the aural skills that will enable them to reverse the compositional process of sound into symbol to one of symbol into sound. The comprehensive and systematic approach employs literature, drawing most of the examples from actual pieces instead of devising contrived melodies. The abundant new exercises in this edition refresh the text, even as the proven exercises continue to educate students.

Book Description
Excerpt from Fifty Steps in Sight-Singing Ir is slowly beginning to be recognised that to be unable to read a single line of music at sight is, after all, rather a sign of ignorance. This is encouraging, and should be made the most of by all who have at heart the spread of musical education, and the consequent advancement of music in this country. Sight Singing for Beginners, Level 1

Sight Singing for Beginners, Level 1 PDF Author: I. J. Farkas
Publisher: Createspace Independent Publishing Platform
ISBN: 9781540562937

Pages : 52

Book Description
Learn the basics of sight singing in 7 days with this innovative book! Sight Singing for Beginners Level I is a comprehensive, and progressive audio course for group or self study. It is an effective method in a variety of situations, including self-study, private music lessons, for singers in school, college, church and community choirs. This course is a compact introduction to the basics of sight singing and adds more complicated elements one by one. There are sight singing examples and exercises used in each chapter with a recorded vocal example to check yourself. To listen to a selected exercise, click on the Hear button on supported devices, or visit goo.gl/L9ezwA online. You can hear the example with a metronome to help you understand the rhythm. The note set, which is all the notes used in the example, is given above each example block. When you sing, try to grasp an entire phrase as a musical entity avoiding note to note singing. You should practice a melody several times, if necessary, until ease and fluency are achieved. It is helpful to beat time as you sing, or you may use standard conducting patterns. This book recommends singing in Solfege (fixed Do) system for sight singing music (any other system will work as well). The system applies standard syllables to the notes (Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Si Do). Singing with solfege syllables makes it easier to hear and remember the sound of intervals and facilitates developing perfect pitch. In this system, the pitch C is always Do. Knowing how to read music will give you the confidence you need to improve as a singer/musician. Give yourself time to learn to sight sing. It takes a lot of practice and patience to develop a strong foundation in reading rhythms and sight singing melodies."

Bob Crewe

Bob Crewe PDF Author: Donald Albrecht
Publisher: Rizzoli Publications
ISBN: 0847869792
Category : Art

Pages : 0

Book Description
The first book to explore the extraordinary musical life and remarkable paintings of one of America's greatest ever songwriters. Best known for having written and produced some of the seminal records of American popular culture--from 'Big Girls Don't Cry' for the Four Seasons to 'Silence is Golden' for the Tremeloes and 'Lady Marmalade' for LaBelle--Bob Crewe was a multifaceted artist for whom a passion for painting and the visual arts provided a lifelong counterbalance to music. Collected here are more than 80 of Bob Crewe's artworks, stretching from his first forays into abstract expressionism in the 1950s and 1960s to more complex, tactile compositions made on his full-time return to painting in the 1990s--accompanied by archival images and ephemera that reflect Crewe's simultaneous contribution to popular music. Essays by Jessica May and Peter Plagens explore the development of an artist whose influences ranged from Rauschenberg and Johns to Warhol and Bacon; legendary record producer Andrew Loog Oldham captures the period of radical experimentalism in which Crewe wrote many of the most memorable songs in the canon of modern pop; and Donald Albrecht's introduction ties together the many complementary aspects of Crewe's personal and creative lives.
