Excerpt from The American University Bulletin, Vol. 13: Catalog Number for 1938-39 Session In the development of the courses offered as a part of the In Service Training Program the School has adopted the practice of calling upon outstanding experts in each field to discuss their problems with the members of the classes, and then to provide the students with the opportunity of discussing their problems with these experts. The contributions of these experts are designed to supplement the work of the full-time faculty. Cooperative in-service training courses have also been developed with the following departments of the Federal Government: The Graduate School of the Department of Agriculture; the Census Eu reau of the Department of Commerce; the Farm Credit Administra tion; the Social Security Board; the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the Department of Labor; and the Home Owners Loan Corporation. In connection with its in-service training program the School of Public Affairs has developed work leading toward a Certificate in Public Administration; a Certificate in Business Administration; a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration; and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Also, in cooperation with the Graduate School of the University, programs have been developed leading to the degrees Of Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in the field of Public Administration. The details of these programs are set forth in the next sections of the bulletin. Every effort is being made by the School to give all possible atten tion to the needs of the individual. Candidates for certificates and undergraduate degrees will be assigned to faculty members who will make a careful study of their needs and abilities. Graduate students will be aided in every possible manner by faculty members under whom they are carrying on their research work.
