Resurrection and Me

Resurrection and Me PDF Author: Bishoy Fr Kamel
Publisher:
ISBN: 9780648281498
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 232

Book Description
The resurrection is a personal experience that we as Christians should experience everyday of our lives. The church gives us practical examples of the resurrection in biblical characters such as, the disciples who fled away from Christ during His crucifixion yet after His resurrection they went about preaching the word to all nations. We also love the resurrection in the church sacraments as St Paul said: "we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life" (Romans 6:4). In this book, Fr Bishoy Kamel explores in much more details the meaning and the power of resurrection and what it means in our daily personal and church life. The Heresy of Jehovah's Witnesses

The Heresy of Jehovah's Witnesses PDF Author: H.H. Pope Shenouda III
Publisher: Baramous . Monastery Press
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 42

Book Description
Jehovah’s Witnesses are not Christians. Although they believe in the New Testament, it is their own incorrect translation that is misconstrued to suit their beliefs. They do not call themselves Christians, but ‘Jehovah’s Witnesses’ - ‘Jehovah’ being a name of God used in the Old Testament. Their doctrine regarding the Lord Jesus Christ is completely different to the Christian doctrine; it is a mixture of the heresy of Arius, and other new heresies. They have even reached a level much worse than that of Arius by far. Many governments have expelled Jehovah’s Witnesses from their countries because they sensed the danger which they presented to the country’s general peace. Therefore, it can be said that they do not only propagate false religious beliefs, but they also propagate dangerous political ideas. As they say that the Church is a product of the devil, they also say that governments are a product of the devil, and encourage people not to enter the armed forces. They also consider saluting the flag as idolatry. Jehovah’s Witnesses do not believe in the immortality of the soul and say that this is the teaching of the devil. They also say that after a person dies, he lives happily in the ‘earthly paradise’, thus contradicting all the promises of the heavenly kingdom. This booklet is merely a collection of articles that were published in the ‘El-Keraza’ English magazine, and which we considered publishing and distributing as an introduction to the upcoming book. Pope Shenouda III

Daily Prayer in the Early Church

Daily Prayer in the Early Church PDF Author: Paul F. Bradshaw
Publisher: Wipf and Stock Publishers
ISBN: 1606081055
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 209

Book Description
'In liturgical study, and especially in English liturgical study, the subject of the daily office has always been something of the poor relation', writes the author in his preface. This volume aims to do something to fill that gap. It begins with a detailed examination of the Jewish background and of the practice of daily prayer in the first three centuries of the Church, and goes on to trace the evolution of the divine office in both its monastic and secular forms in East and West down to the time of St. Benedict. Intended as a replacement forThe Influence of the Synagogue upon the Divine Officeby C. W. Dugmore (Alcuin Club Collection No. 45), it not only incorporates the results of recent research by continental scholars and others but also challenges traditional assumptions at a number of important points, offering a fresh interpretation of the evidence.
