La traducción jurídica se puede desarrollar dentro de una gran variedad de contextos jurídicos (internacional, supranacional, nacional) y lingüísticos. Para el presente estudio, se han elegido dos ordenamientos jurídicos nacionales y una materia jurídica concreta, la regulación del divorcio y cuestiones conexas en los derechos alemán y español, así como una clase textual determinada, las sentencias de divorcio alemana y española. Dentro de este marco, se proponen el derecho comparado, la lingüística textual y la textología contrastiva como fundamentos metodológicos. El objetivo consiste en ofrecer datos jurídicos y textuales contrastivos que faciliten al traductor la comprensión de los textos, a la vez que constituyen la base para la posterior elección de una solución traductora adecuada.

The book considers the role of translation in the reformation of Russia along Western European lines in the eighteenth century. Translation is presented as a key social-systemic factor in the dynamics of the relationship between the system and its environment — between Russia and Western Europe. The author draws on contemporary historiography and social theory, primarily Niklas Luhmann’s social systems theory, but also concepts of other sociologists and historians, such as Gumilev, Bourdieu, Habermas, Jameson, amongst others. This allows the author to conduct a comprehensive analysis of social involvements of translation. Scientific and Technical Translation (STT) is a highly complex and knowledge-intensive field of translation and cognitive linguistics is a usage-based linguistic framework which provides powerful theoretical tools for modelling knowledge organisation and representation in discourse. This book explores the interface between scientific and technical translation studies and cognitive linguistics by discussing the epistemological, contextual, textual and cross-linguistic dimensions of scientific and technical translation from a cognitive linguistic perspective. Particular emphasis is placed on explicitation and implicitation as indicators of the interaction between text and context in STT. The corpusbased investigation of the two phenomena illustrates the complex knowledge requirements pertaining to scientific and technical translation and demonstrates the explanatory power of cognitive linguistics with regard to important textual and contextual aspects of STT.
