Glisterings: LaTeX and Other Oddments
Author: Peter Wilson
Publisher: Tex Users Group
ISBN: 9780982462621
Category : Crafts & Hobbies
Languages : en
Pages : 130
Book Description
This collection of Glisterings columns primarily covers LaTeX topics, with excursions into fonts, graphics, bookbinding, and more. The focus is on practical answers to specific questions posed by users. Generally, several answers are presented with accompanying discussion. The Glisterings column was a popular feature in TUGboat, the journal of the TeX Users Group, from 2001 to 2017. The present volume collects all published columns, and adds a comprehensive bibliography and index, along with a few updates to the text, as needed. TeX is a sophisticated typesetting system that has been in widespread use since approximately 1980. TeX's originator, Donald Knuth, structured the system so users could add functionality. It remains the state of the art. The TeX Users Group (TUG) is a membership-based non-profit organization founded in 1980, for those who have an interest in typesetting, typography and font design and/or are users of the TeX typesetting system. New members, volunteers, and donations are always welcome; please visit www.tug.org.

Math into LATEX
Author: George Grätzer
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1475724462
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 474
Book Description
It is indeed a lucky author who is given the opportunity to completely rewrite a book barely a year after its publication. Writing about software affords such op portunities (especially if the original edition sold out), since the author is shooting at a moving target. u\TEX and AMS-u\TEX improved dramatically with the release of the new stan dard IbTEX (called u\TEX2) in June of1994 and the revision of AMS-u\TEX (ver f sion 1.2) in February ofl995. The change in AMS-u\TEX is profound. u\TEX2 f made it possible for AMS-IbTEX to join the u\TEX world. One of the main points of the present book is to make this clear. This book introduces u\TEX as a tool for mathematical typesetting, and treats AMS-u\TEX as a set of enhancements to the standard u\TEX, to be used in conjunction with hundreds of other u\TEX 2f enhancements. I am not a TEX expert. Learning the mysteries of the system has given me great respect for those who crafted it: Donald Knuth, Leslie Lamport, Michael Spivak, and others did the original work; David Carlisle, Michael J. Downes, David M. Jones, Frank Mittelbach, Rainer Schopf, and many others built on the work of these pioneers to create the new u\TEX and AMS-LATEX.
