Book Description
This SAE Recommended Practice describes laboratory test methods to measure filter performance. Performance includes, but is not limited to, air flow restriction or pressure drop, overall and fractional efficiency, holding capacity for airborne particles, and air filter structural integrity. The purpose of this test code is to establish and specify consistent test procedures, conditions, equipment, and performance reports to enable comparison of filter performance of particulate air filters used in automotive interior ventilation systems.

SAE Passenger Compartment Air Filter Test Code-Test Method for Gas Removing Filters

SAE Passenger Compartment Air Filter Test Code-Test Method for Gas Removing Filters PDF Author: Air Cleaner Test Code Standards Committee
Publisher:
ISBN:

Languages : en
Pages : 0

Book Description
This laboratory test method applies to air filters that improve air quality by reducing concentrations of gaseous, odorous, or hazardous components from ambient and/or re-circulated air in vehicle cabins. The test method provides information on pressure drop, as well as gas and/or vapor removal characteristics. The purpose of the test method is to describe and establish test criteria to enable comparisons of filters and filter components that remove or reduce the levels of containment gases or vapors from air streams under specified laboratory conditions.

Handbook of Nonwoven Filter Media

Handbook of Nonwoven Filter Media PDF Author: Irwin M. Hutten
Publisher: Butterworth-Heinemann
ISBN: 0080983022
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 678

Book Description
The Handbook of Nonwoven Filter Media, Second Edition provides readers with a fundamental understanding of nonwoven filter media. It is one of the few books dealing exclusively with the subject, and is primarily intended as a reference for people in the nonwovens industry (industry and academic researchers, technical, marketing , and quality control personnel) and universities offering courses in filtration theory and practice and nonwovens technology. The book includes applications for gas, liquid, and engine filtration, and identifies the types of filter media used in these applications. The various separation technologies that can be achieved with nonwoven filter media are revealed and discussed. Theoretical presentation is based on flow through porous media, and is developed around a nonwovens or engineered fabrics orientation. - Presents the latest information on legislative, regulatory, environmental and sustainability issues affecting the nonwovens and filtration industries - Includes a comprehensive discussion of Computational Flow Dynamics (CFD) by Dr. George Chase, University of Akron, USA - Includes the latest Global and North American marketing statistics for filters and filter media prepared by Brad Kalil of INDA

OPERATOR ENCLOSURE AIR FILTER ELEMENT TEST PROCEDURE

OPERATOR ENCLOSURE AIR FILTER ELEMENT TEST PROCEDURE PDF Author: HFTC6, Operator Accommodation

Languages : en
Pages : 0

Book Description
This SAE Recommended Practice establishes a uniform test procedure for determining performance levels of operator enclosure panel type air filters on off-road, self-propelled work machines used in construction, general-purpose industrial, agriculture, and forestry as defined in SAE J1116 and equipped with an operator enclosure with a powered fresh air system. The following operator enclosure air filter guideline has been established to cover dry type cab air filters used on off-road, self-propelled work machines. The objective of this procedure is to provide a uniform means for evaluating the performance characteristics of enclosure air filters on bench test equipment. The data collected by this test procedure can be used to establish standards of performance for enclosure air filters. Variations in actual field operating conditions are difficult to duplicate; however, with the procedure and equipment set forth, comparisons of air filter effectiveness can be made.In the past, there have been numerous configurations of test housings. All of these designs have had one objective, to provide uniform dust loading throughout the entire area of the filter. The performance characteristics of greatest interest are air flow restriction or pressure drop, particulate collection efficiency, and particulate capacity. These test recommendations are defined under air cleaner test code SAE J726; however, the test shroud configurations defined in SAE J726 are not applicable for operator enclosure filter comparison.

Air Filter Element Test Method

Air Filter Element Test Method PDF Author: HFTC6, Operator Accommodation

Pages : 0

Book Description
This SAE test method establishes a uniform test procedure for determining the gravimetric (mass based) efficiency and pressure drop performance levels of operator enclosure panel type filters on off-road, self-propelled work machines used in earth moving, and forestry, as defined in SAE J1116 and for agricultural equipment as defined in ANSI/ASAE S390, and equipped with an operator enclosure with a powered fresh air system. ISO/TS 11155-1 may additionally be used, which describes the use of particle sizing devices to measure the fractional (particle size) efficiency of panel type filters for automotive cabin filter applications. Automotive cabin filters are similar to filters described in this procedure, and the ISO/TS 11155-1 test method is therefore directly applicable. Minor revisions to document to correct misspelled words, obsolete test specifications, and minimal changes in procedure.
